6mmbr Peterson brass reviews in 6br or Dasher

Ccrider...yes class reply but when I called and explained to Ben my experience with their brass and that I wanted to purchase some replacements that is not the reply I received. So now it is he said or he said.
In any case in all the hundreds pieces of Lapua brass that I have expanded over the years I have NEVER lost a piece to a crushed neck! Split a few YES.
I might also mention for a very long time Lapua has always miss counted their brass by +one just in case I do something stupid.

Thanks for posting. Now that Peterson has a better understanding, I am sure that they will strive harder to serve us better in the future. It is good that Peterson is here, listening and being responsive. If we have a problem with their brass, we now know who to call. Just another good thing about this forum.
I would not hesitate to try and compare their Dasher brass, and plan to do so after I work through some of the Lapua I have put back.

Curious if there are any more reports on the Peterson 6br brass? I have a Brux blank being chambered for a no-turn BRA and considering which brass to purchase.

I'm using Peterson BR brass in a 22br, and have run into heavy bolt lift at a pretty normal speed. Very accurate, just heavy bolt lift. I have zero issues with their x47 brass however.

If you would have asked us for a couple pieces to replace those, we would have just sent them to you. The only people that we have had to tell no to is the people that are wanting to purchase whole boxes. We are more than happy to send replacement cases to people.
I am trying out your dasher brass currently. My gun with Lapua brass shoots 32.5 gr Varget without pressure issues . 32.1 is I easier on primer pockets so that is my go to load.
I loaded 10 ea of 31.6 & 31.7 gr Varget with Berger 109 and cc’ing 450 primer.
I had 4 primer punctures and all the primers had deeper than avg dent. No heavy bolt at all. The shoulder height on your brass was .012” shorter than my FF Lapua brass. These test loads were jumped .030” off the lands.
On the bench my Wilson die will not size close to base on your brass.. . 0.350” away and it just stops. Lapua sizes all the way to the base. These do chamber still. Will I need a body die to get the last 0.350” sized . What die have you reloaded fired brass with ?

I've beat on Peterson's 6.5x47 brass that I bought and it's been really strong. I'm planning to buy some 6BR for my 22BR but haven't got around to it yet. The 100 pieces of Lapua I have are on their 15th reload and not showing any signs of tiring yet.

Okay here's an update of my use of the Peterson brass in the 6 br. and the Dasher, I haven't had any problems whith primer pockets or anything else, I don't run my cases to the max, I'll run them where the gun wants to shoot.
I also like the fact that, I can make some of my Wildcat cases based off 6BR cases, from left to right is 6BR-6 dasher-6Bra-6BR Vixen and I made all of them with Peterson brass.
P.S. I get the same basic velocities with Vixen as a Dasher.
I form the Vixen brass out of the Peterson Dasher brass with no serious fireforming.

Stan, you helped me with a Graf and sons connection for Dasher Brass. I’m finding it is taking at least 3 fireforming loads to get a consist headspace measurement. Annealing every firing. Once consistent, the brass does as expected. Getting to that point has involved heavy bolt lift. I lay all of this to the thicker brass. Just have to learn that thicker takes longer. So the basic question then is, thinner alpha and Lapua may come to size faster, less bullets and less effort to get to the match ready stage, and all of this taking a toll on barrel life. Curious as to your thoughts on what I’m experiencing.

I have thought about this quite a bit I don't understand the reason for heavy bolt lift I hit my brass one time and I was in reasonable headspace I wish I could help.

Just shot some new unfired dasher brass from Peterson, using 105 gr bullets and re. 15, n140 and Norma 203b. Speeds between 2990 and 3010. Heavy bolt lift on all. Accuracy at 300 decent 1/2 moa. I’m flummoxed. Haven’t had this experience before.

I thought you were pleased with the 2980-2990window you were hitting with re.15. Your groups looked good at 100.
Yes you are exactly right but I season my brass I never hit my brass full potential cuz you got to set the primer pockets that way your brass lives longer.
I hit my brass at about 2800 fps an then on second firing I start up from there I'm at 2980 or so by the 3rd firing.

thanks. I’m thinking my annealing needs some work. What you’re doing is not that far off what I’ve been doing. I also am noticing my alpha brass out of the box, unfired is 1.54-1.542 In length. The Peterson is considerably shorter new and unfired, 1.534, 1.535 range. It grows to my trim length of 1.540, but takes one or two firings.

Someone asked about consistency........Yesterday I weight sorted 200 brand new Peterson 6BR brass. The weights ran from 138.1gr. To 139.5 gr. Of the 200, I ended up with, my ( #1 box ) of fifty brass varied by only 0.1gr. My ( #2 box ) of fifty varied by 0.2gr. Of the 200, only nine weighed in, at or below 138.3gr. I have high hopes for this brass as I’m going to fireform them for a new 6BRA. The folks at Peterson were very gracious and provided me the opportunity to tour their facility. Precision and quality control was stressed in all the operations that I observed.

It’s one thing to have issues with 6br in a 6br chamber, quite another to have issues with forming it to be something other than 6br. It’s almost certain that the more a case is optimized for being 6br, the more intolerant of reforming it might be. I’d never accept as valid judgement that a 6br case is a bad 6br case because it doesn’t easily form 30br.

I am on about 5th firing on 100 dasher cases. Necks turned down to .095” . Never bothered to weigh them . Using shooters world precision with 108’s getting good groups at 2930 fps. Anneal on every firing, Primer pockets holding up. I have 500 more on order.

Have not broken my 6mmBR Peterson brass out yet but I did get 50 pcs. of the 260 SRP for my 260AI. Very good results so far with it but did have to reduce the loads @ 1/2 gr. from my Lapua brass to stay out of pressure.

I used the same load of 29.5 grains of Varget and Berger 105 grain Hybrid and both Peterson and Lapua gave equal results at 600 yards in F-Class Mid Range.
