6mmBR Fire Forming Load

I am getting ready to load my first 6mmBR rounds for fire forming.

I plan on using Berger 68 gr FB bullets, 34 grs. of Varget, CCI BR4 primers, and seat the bullets so that the OAL is 2.441.

Does that sound about right for fire forming or do I have something really wrong here??

I don't know about the load as I don't use Varget, and the OAL depends on the chamber in the rifle. You want the bullets to be jammed in the lands so the case is centered in the chamber when you pull the trigger. A stiff load is desirable.

I forgot about that. Been a while since I worked on a new cartridge, for me).

OAL was all wrong for the bullet.

More work to do.

Thanks.

I just loaded some 68gr Bergers for fireforming with 31grs of Varget and shot pretty good. Guess I wasn't as brave as you.
Next loadings will be 32.grs and 33.5grs of Varget. This is only the 6th barrel that I'v chambered, so guess I'm a little shaky the few times I shoot a new barrel. The bullet seated .015 into the rifling measured at the Ogive was 2.444 in my gun.
