6mmBR 14' twist, 21.5' barrel, what bullet?

I just labored hard to ream out to 6mmBR and cut threads on a Shilen Stainless benchrest take off barrel on an old Savage 99.

My house is full of .95" bullets, like 87 gr soft points and 100 gr round nose, but no short bullets.

I guess I am not going to the range today:,

Is the 65 gr Vmax at .835" where I will wind up?

TIA

It was just something fun to do.
It will get a trip to the range.
If it shoots, great, it may get to shoot some rodents.

Clark: The consistant accuracy load for my Shilen and Hart 6BRs' with the 14 twist is 30 grs. of Vihta Vouri N133, 65 gr. V-Max, seated to touch, Federal 205, and naturally, Lapua brass. I have the .265" neck, and loaded rounds are .264". I'm sure there are hotter combos out there, but this is my "standard" accuracy load.

I bought a .272" neck reamer with a throat for 85 gr Vmax, and now I realize, today,I have a dozen 6mm barrels to use up, and half are 1 in 14" twist benchrest take off barrels that will never stabilize an 85 gr Vmax.

I have over two pounds of N133.
I have never used any.
I got it from a guy being sent to China.

I guess I will order some 65 gr Vmax.

Clark: The entire line of Hornady V-Max have been outstanding performers in most of my rifles: The 50 gr. in both my 222s'. The 50,55 & 60s' in my 223. 60 is first choice in the Shilen barreled 22BR. 6ppc prefers the 58,,outshoots Berger 68s'). 65s' have been consistant in 3, 6BRs'. Varmint bullet cost at match bullet performance/accuracy. I realize N133 is not a popular powder for the 6BR, but it does work for me, with the lighter weight bullets, as it does in my 6ppc. It also shoots very clean/ minimal powder fouling.

Clark,
I shoot 65 grn. Hornady V-Maxes out of a Hart 1 in 14" twist light varmint contour that will put all 5 rounds into one hole @200 meters if I do my part. I use 31.0 grn. of VV135 with Federal Match primer or 34.8 grn. of Varget with a CCI Mag. primer. Either load is capable of the above and are fine in my rifle. Do not attempt these loads without first working up as you may find one that performs as good with less powder. My buddy turned me onto the Varget/V-Max combo. and uses 35.0 grn. of Varget. These are fairly warm loads but I have not experienced any pressure signs. I've shot 68 grn. Bergers, Hammonds, and Fowlers and they are o.k. but don't perform like the 65 grn. V-Maxes.

The 1 twist in 14" barrel will not stabilize the 75 gr Vmax at 3100 fps.

It almost will.
It does fine out to 50 yards.
.3 moa average at 50 y
1.5 moa average at 100y

Some of the bullets are going into one hole at 100y.
Some of the bullets are flyers and are kind of keyholing at 100y.

chino 69,,,those sound like some good loads. I plan on trying them in a week or so. My live varmint rifle has a 14 twist Hart that is 22 inches long. It shoots better than I can shoot it.
