6mm Norma BR OAL issue

I've been having to seat 105gr amax at 2.20" base to tip. I tried seating at 2.3-2.37" but the bullet litterally jams into the bore and the case comes apart if I try to unchamber the round. I start to get bore marks on the bullet at 2.21".

I get the feeling that the barrel was reamed as a 6mm Remington BR, not 6mm norma. The barrel was made by a reputable company, but this seems a bit off.

What do you guys think?

Thank you for the responses.

I had recently ordered another barrel from the same company, what do I need to ask for specifically to be able to seat a longer oal in the new barrel?

I'm not to technical vocabulary savvy.

Izrua: Load a dummy round, no powder or primer, with the bullet seated to the length you want it, and give it to the gunsmith & tell him you want it throated for that bullet seating depth, with the bullet touching the lands.

You then have the option of seating it with a little jam into the lands, or a little jump, off the lands, or seated to touch.

When I spec my chambering reamers, I usually have my first bullet of choice seated in the case neck so that the base of the bullet is .020" or so in front of the neck/shoulder junction. That way I have a lot of neck length remaining as erosion develops, and I can keep seating the bullet further out of the case neck.

Are you ordering a pre chambered barrel. If not discuss with you gunsmith what you are wanting to shoot and he can throat the chamber accordingly, just repeating what was mentioned in the preivous post. If it is prechambered by the barrel maker they will provide you with the chamber specs and you will have to use the bullet best suited for the barrelmakers chamber, or have your smith throat it to your specs. I would prefer a barrel blank and have my smith spec to my needs. I am not to enthusiastic about pre chambered barrels.

Thank you all for the responses.
I have a unique issue where I live; the only competent smith is 150 miles away.

Is hand reaming the freebore out another 0.150 an option?

My .02, Determine your most likely bullet(s) & ship him the gun, sans stock, trigger & any scope or mounts. My 1-8 was chambered for the 105 Berger VLDs. Same barrel with the gauge, the 105 Amax bullet is 1.719 to the ogive and and 2.253 COAL.
