6mm BR Remington in 6mm BR Norma

6mm Br newbie here. I saw an online auction for 6mm BR Remington brass and it stated that these shells would not work in a 6mm BR Norma chambered rifle. Two questions: If the chamber in the Norma is longer, why wouldn't the Rem BR brass work (more freebore?) and will the longer Norma size brass work in a chamber reamed for the Remington case? TIA

The Remingtom brass should chamber in the Norma chamber. The Lapua/Norma brass will be too long in the neck to fit the "Remington BR" (shorter neck) chamber.
Rather than trim Norma/Lapua brass to fit the shorter Remington chamber, consider having the short chamber cut to fit the "better" Norma/Lapua brass.

Guess which case is the remington and which is the lapua..??
The remington case is on the left and the lapua case is ont the right.
6mmBR rem. 6mmBR lapua.
base dia .463 base dia .468
shoulder dia .456 shoulder dia .460
case oal 1.558 case oal 1.554
You can shoot the 6mm remington BR case in the lapua/norma chamber as long as you jam the rifeling and fire form the case. I have shot them and you can go the other way into the old original 6BR rem chamber with the lapua case as long as you have a SB body die to size the case first and cut the neck to 1.520,i know a guy who does it.

There is really not much difference in the standerized remington 6mmBR chamber and the
lapua norma chamber other than the remy is on the small side and the lapua/norma is on the big side by 4-5 thousands. I have heard as much as 7 thousands.
Now im talking about the 6BR remington brass that you can buy and it comes allready primed/i dont know why. but suspect remington wanted you to know the BR works best with a mag primer??
The neck length was originally 1.520, but it is rare to run into a old BR chamber with a 1.520 oal. the neck length was changed to 1.560 a L-O-N-G time ago, when remington
6BR brass was avavilable it had a 1.560 OAL.
The lapua brass is the best..Ah i cant capitalize the peroid.
The remington brass is poor quality by my opinion.
but i have sorted some and matched up some cases and they shot very well and had
10 fireings on them with no signs of giving up.
The remington 6BR brass has a .080 flash hole.
The lapua brass has the .060 flash hole(or as i have heard .058-.059??).
The only thing you want to watch for is if its used brass or made from the old remington
UBR brass, stay away from it if that is the case.lol...
