6mm br rem and 6mm br norma

Hi Guys
This has probably on somewhere but I cant find it,could somebody post a bullet diagram of a 6mm BR rem and a 6mm BR Norma . I know the oal is shorter on the rem but is there any case differences
best regards
Andy (dully1963) ;)

there is a case difference, the Remington case fits in the 6BR norma chamber, but the Lapua 6BR case does not fit in the Remington chamber, it's just a bit to wide at tha base...

I had mine reamed in 6br Norma and the freebore was to long for the 68gn Berger bullet so I had it reamed in the 6BR Remington, the freebore was just right but the cases wouldn't fit the chamber, not even after fullsizing so I had to enlarge the chamber about .05mm and then the cases fit the chamber.

I trashed a bunch of 6 rem. br. Bras while trying to fire form then in a 6brx chamber. I would set your chamber up for one case or the other and go from there.

To avoid patent infringement, and maybe a lawsuit, when Norma ( and a short time later Lapua) came out with their 6BR they changed the max case length to 1.560" versus the 1.520" of the Remington. That took care of the length question. Then to further guarantee that Norma/Lapua brass would not fit in a Remington dimensioned chamber, the case head diameter was increased by approx. .002".

Remington brass would fit in a Norma chamber, but not the reverse.

Adding to the confusion though is some of the die manufacturers, like Redding, who continue to label their die box's a 6mmBR Remington. That chambering is all but obsolete.

I've been in contact with a competitve shooter in France & he said his gunsmith did not even have a Remington 6BR reamer, Norma/Lapua only.

Don't know if you want to dig this deep but you asked about case differences and I'd include in that the fact that Lapua 6BR brass (the stuff I use in my 6BR Norma) features a flash hole that runs about .0035 smaller than the average "small" flash hole so if you don't use the proper size pin when you're punching out primers you can expect, at some point, to break a decapping pin.
