6mm For 1000

I am learning to really like the 6mm. I just completed a 6BR and it screams. My interest is in discussing which 6mm configuration is going to rise up to be the supreme 6mm for 1000-yd competition, benchrest). Dasher, BRX, etc., yada yada. I have the time and funds to devote to a prime 6mm project. I want to stay with 6mm as it is so comfortable to shoot and I have some lady friends and kids that are interested in shooting. I want their experience to be pleasurable so that they may become dedicated members of the shooting sports community. I'm sure Obama would approve this message!

So, 1000-yds.........which 6mm ??????

Thanks,

cwood3,

I shoot a 6BRX for 600 and 1000yds. A Dasher would be good also. Both will give you a little extra velocity over the 6BR.

6CM,very accurate for 1000 yards. Fast, great barrel life easy to load for, and a lot of fun for everyone to shoot.

Dasher all the way..The difference between the straight 6BR and the Dasher is like the difference between daylight and dark..Don't let anyone tell you that you'll only gain a little with the Dasher. I've owned and shoot both, and there is NO comparsion when you strech them to 1000 yards..Velocity difference will be 200 fps difference, and that makes a HUGE difference in terms of wind drift, etc...They'll shoot together when its calm, but let the wind blow and the Dasher really shows out..it damn near run even with the 6.5x284, and you'll get a barrel that will go 2500-3000 rounds as compared to 800-1200 rounds...

The Dasher has already risen to the top. Pennsylvania Rules 1,000
yard 10 shot record is held by a Dasher, at 3.475 inches with a 100 score. Was fired in Missoula, MT.at the Deep Creek range this past August by Leo Anderson.

Get the best: 6X47 Lapua. Small primer, max velocity with no pressure and max accuracy.

You hit the nail on the head.
I built this gun for the same reasons. You have to ring the heck out of a 6br, 6brx, 6 dasher to match the performance. The other choice would be a 6xc, but i think the 6x47l has an advantage on it.

I've owned five Dashers and three 6x47s. They've all been great shooters, from 600 to 1000yds. My initial impressions of my 1st 6x47 was that it burnt more powder, deposited more carbon in the throat, and didn't shoot quite as good as the Dashers.

However, after trying DTAC 115s in that 1st 6x47 and fixing a slight bolt nose clearance problem, I've really started to appreciate how well it performs at 1000. I thought enough of the cartridge to put a Krieger chambered for it on my 1st BAT 3L, and have been very pleased with the results. There's also a new 1000yd. BR rifle in 6x47 out in the shop that I need to finish the stock for - am really looking forward to shooting this one out at Byers next season, maybe along with one of the Dashers to see how they compare.
