6mm BR, 6mmBRX, 6mm Dasher

Reading post here and having my own experience with the 6mmBR, 6mm BRX, and the 6 mm Dasher. Are not being loaded for their advantages, accuracy, and ecconomy. I expect exceptional accuracy less than .25moa and to get 16-20 reloads per case. Generally after fireforming my brass is .010" short. I only full lenght bump size, and anneal ever reloading to every other reloading. After about 8 reloads I check and trim if necessary. These cartridges are best used for 600-1000 yd target shooters. If you want and need more velocity than 2950- 3080 fps you should shoot something holding more powder, ie: .243, 6mmRem, 6XC, 6mmCreedmore, 6 x 47, or 6mm/.284.

Hi Nat, something I don't understand is why these cartridges should be best for 600-1000 yd for target shooters. What happens at 100 to 600yd relative to accuracy ?

Evidently, Nat has never used the BR case, in any of it's configurations (standard, short dog, tall dog) in the short range game :-[

They are great in 100-600 Varmint or Balloon matches. They will shoot 1/4 to 1/2 MOA at 100-600 yards, many better.

Nat,
I have had 5 6BRX they like 2975 f/s with 105 VLD Berger's, and will out shoot any of the bigger 6mm's.

What's not to like about a 6 Dasher or BRX for 600 and 1000 BR??? Quite a few long range records set with improved BR's.

Nate, I have read and re-read your posting and I am still at a loss as to exactly what your postulation is here. Are you saying that the 6mmBR and it's improved versions are "less than adequate" for F-Open? Or that something with more case capacity would be better suited for other disciplines or better hunting rounds? I am only guessing here, since I can't seem to grasp exactly what it is you are intent on stating.

I read about folks hot roding these cartridges and complaining about case length, loose pockets, not running fast enough. They try to load them to hot.

Oh okay, thanks for the clarification.. In the case you are stating, I agree 100pct..

Replacing barrels and cases is just one cost of playing the game.

And not all that much relative to all the other costs for match shooters.

I'd LOVE to get 3,000rds out of a Dasher barrel and more than 7-8 firings out of Lapua cases. But experience says that's not happening with the way "I" shoot and is typical of the guys I shoot against/with.
