6mm Dasher and trajectory ?

I am used to using a 6 mm Remington AI, therefore a trajectory question on the 6mm Dasher.

In regard to "Varmint type bullets" I realize the dasher will have a more pronounced trajectory curve.
Do you guys use a ranging device to give you the distance "OR" use trajectory information in most reloading books on " Ground Hogs" out to 400 - 500 yd or so and compensate with experience?

I see a lot of people talking about there long shots without mention of the above.

Thanks to all.

Chronograph your load, get bullet BC and go to JBM ballistics on web. Figure out what your zero should be, 100 yards, 200 yards, 250 yards etc. Shoot your rifle and verify your zero. Print off the calculations and stick them on the rifle stock somewhere. If you have a range finding scope, learn to use it and adjust your loads to it if possible. If you have turrets figure out your adjustments by clicks or moa. Use a range finder and start shooting. That's what I do. Barlow

At 500 yds. with a Dasher my big concern would be what part of the head you want to hit, and not worry about trajectory…… jim

I am not shooting my Dashers at chucks at LR but can't think of anything more suited for the purpose. A shooting buddy of mine just got back from Montana and he was whacking PD's with boring consistency with his 6 Dasher and 105 A-Max at 1000 yards and longer. Using varmint weight/type bullets will of course change things but get that load humming and all will be good. Basically in answer to your question stay away from the reloading manual trajectory/ballistic info and go with what Barlow just posted. He is spot on! The 6 Dasher with 87 A-Max or maybe 95 BT's would be deadly for mid to long range chuck hunting!

I went to the JBM ballistics website and entered the bullet 105 gr A-Max from there listing, however it didn't fill in any of the associated information witch I don't know.

My original question was theoretical in nature because I want to investigate all avenues/situations before spending a boatload of money on a build that might or might not meet my requirements.
I realize you guys are apparently very knowledgeable about the 6MM Dasher but I am not.

Iirc the BC of the 105 Amax is .500. Just follow the page and fill in appropriate info. Be sure and use accurate data, and don't forget periods. (.500 not 500) If your longest shot is 500 yards, enter that and use a zero of 200 yards and 50 yard or 100 yard drop data. Just [play around with it and it will come to you. If you have problems, just let us know. Barlow It's JBM calculations- trajectory
