6mm Creedmoor FL Die

I need a 6mm Creedmoor FL sizing die. I'd like one that already has a decapping pin for Lapua SRP flash holes. Does that narrow it down to only Whidden?

I just built a 6 cm for my 12 year old son to deer hunt with. Part of the reason I chose this cartridge is because Lee makes FL and neck size dies. I am using Laupula SRP brass too. I have only neck sized so far with the collet dies on the 6 CM. The primer pin is for LR so I had to take the pin out and file/sand it down with emory cloth until it was a fuzz under .060, the size of other Lee SRP pins, like on my hornet. After 20 or 30 minutes of sanding and filing I was sizing brass.

Big fan of Lee dies...makes great ammo that shoots tiny groups for me.

good luck

I wanted to reduce the decapping pin size on several Lee dies I had. First attempt using a file or sandpaper resulted in very little metal removal. Could see I wasn't going to accomplish my objective. Took the LCD mandrels, spun them in my drill, and with a sanding drum on my Dremel, only takes about a minute. Just keep the drum parallel with the pin if you want a consistent diameter of the finished product.

How did you put the mandrel in a drill chuck with the peened end not getting in the way? You have some sort of collet on the mandrel then put it all in the drill?

I just put it in deep enough so the end is past the 3 chuck "fingers". Milwaukee drill with a 1/2" chuck. I put the drill brace handle in my vise with the elastomeric pads and lock it on high speed.

Why do Hornday dies seem to get low reviews? I borrowed one to try out while my Wilson arrives, and it's sizing things well. It's dimensionally a good fit, it's not oversizing any parts of my brass. The brass moves through the Hornday die smoothly and everything seems concentric. They're readily available and reasonably priced. Did I just get a good one?

Why, due to some folks just having to slam something, they seem to dislike, heck they would probably complain about a new rope being used.
Most all the name brand dies work just fine, if adjusted and cared for properly or they would not be in business, for years, as they are. Use what you like and disregard the comments some make in slamming a certain product.

Any 6.5 Creed bushing die from Redding/Forster/RCBS designed for full length sizing will work for 6mm with the appropriate 6mm bushings.

Hornady dies are less expensive and work well for hunting rifles. Same for their brass. For precision work Redding or Wilson bushing dies work best. Does your rifle have a small primer firing pin? If not you could experience primer blanking.

This is what I did. I bought a set of Redding 6.5CM bushing dies and use them on both my 6 and 6.5 Creed. I have numerous sets of Redding bushing dies that I use for necked down versions of the same parent case the original die was intended for but with the appropriate bushing.

Who's dies you choose to use is up to the individual. I tend to use mostly all Redding as that's what I prefer, others, may prefer a different companies dies.

+1 on the Redding dies for the 6 creed. They are what I’m running currently for mine and I have had good results
