6mm br to 6mm brx

Hi Guys
I have a 6mmbr which shoots great but could do with a little more get up and go for the further distances,Is it a simple matter of having a smith rechamber it to brx (ie push a brx reamer in the br chamber ) or is it more complicated than that such as chop out the old chamber and reform a new one.
best regards

You will love the BRX!! I had one built this year and its a hammer!! I use mine for tactical shooting so I went with the BRX because of the 30 degree shoulder. My gun loves both Varget and RL-15 but I stayed with Varget because of the temp stability. I am using 33.3grs of Varget and its fine for my gun but you may need to work up to find your sweet spot. Mine also shot a load of 32grs very well.

I had problems with primers at first then went to the Wolf SRM primers or the CCI 450 mag primers and have had no issues since. I fireformed all my brass with 105s and 30grs of varget with the bullet stuck into the rifling. I only lost one case with a split shoulder out of over 160+ so far.

I just used my br reamer . it worked ok u can use your same reloading dies. if the base get too big use a small base die .i used a 6.5/ 47to do the job. after fire forming u gain about 2 1/2 grains of water. then u just use brx or dasher loading. the reason i changed to a dasher the cases don"t grow.It shot just as well but on steroids.100''or more faster
Good Shooting

just enough ... but not enough to change the neck dia. , i was wondering about that

+/- sounds like lots of diff size br x's

thanks fd""""

Yes, you do get a shorter neck....so what is your point? I have been shooting a BRX all season and have donoe well with it. Easy to make cases for and you can use your BR dies. I have 14 reloads on my cases and have never needed to run them though a longer case body tie to get the last 100/1000 at the base. Do a BRX and I think you will be happy. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

jeffppc: I had 2 chamberings in 6BRX, both cut with my spec'ed PTG reamer. They are both "gone" now & I'm concentrating on my plain old 8 twist 6BR's. They continue to do everything I need them to do, including bringing the money home.

My match distances are limited to 500 meters & the 6BR handles that requirement. I just don't "need" the extra distance capabilities of the BRX.

Jeff,

Have to tell you that I am on my third BRX bbl now and they have all shot splendly.

If all I wanted to do was shoot 600 yds, would probably just use a std. BR.

The nice thing about the BRX is that it shoots just as accuratly as the BR does at 600, and you can shoot out to 1000 yds as well.

The STD BR gets a bit anemic at 1K.
