6mm BR Build - recommend stock options

Pretty much the limiting factor in F/open for stocks is the 3" wide fore end. My stock is under that, so everything else is good to go. I just wanted a lower profile stock so I converted a RF/BR stock to a CF inlet and narrowed the fore end. Everything else is fine for F/open, for the most part.
There are several other difference in benchrest. One is that the sides of the forearm can't be more than 1/2" tall. Most F-class stocks the sides of the forearm are 1". Also if you're going to shoot BR then you are handicapping yourself if you go with a 3" forearm instead of a 4". The Wheeler LRB is an outstanding BR stock and the one for sale on AS is a great deal. And finally you really need to decide what distance and weight class you are going to shoot. You can't shoot any of the short range BR competitions with a 17# gun. The weight of the stock is a big part of the weight factor.

Yes, I understand, but I shoot F/class only, which a BR stock is perfectly legal for and was more to my desired dimensions. The other way around, using a F/class stock in BR is a much more difficult task due to the many limiting rules like you stated. I took a BR stock and used it for F/class, which is fine.

Hey guys,

I’m looking to have a 6mm BR built and I’m trying to decide on the stock. The outfit building the rifle does a lot with Manners stocks. Which I love the look of (never held one) but good lord they’re expensive ($2250 up here in Canada).

Can anyone suggest another stock option that might be similar but a little more cost effective?

This rifle is getting pretty darn expensive.
StockyStocks in FL. has a BR style stock. It will not requier a bank loan. Just my ywo cents Tommy Mc

Alamo Precision built my 6mmBR

McMillan Stock here but Manners is great too. Lead time and color are factors

First shots during break-in. Factory ammo
