Sawcarver, looking at your data again. With the shorter bbl the dasher will get about the same velocity as the CM & probably 243?

Sawcarver, a question for you if you don’t mind. Shooting F-class are you using a non-sammi tight custom chamber. If so, how much bigger than the virgin brass you are using is it? Thanks and wishing you and your a Merry Christmas
I'd go with, a 6 XC, ( NO Feeding "issues" ! ) And a 1-10 Twist, to shoot, the 80 grain Sierra Varmit Blitz / 87 V-Maxes for Coyotes, And the fine, 85 grain Sierra's HP GK's and OR, the awesome,.. 87 gr. HVLD Berger's for, Deer ! I'D use, at least a 20" Barrel, so that, your Ears don't RING,.. IF you forget,.. to put, the Plugs IN !
And get some, Fast burning, Varget, Vhit N-140 or, N-150 Powder in, that, SHORT Barrel ! But, that's,.. just MY idea, MY $ .02 ! Good luck and MOSTLY have FUN with, your new Rifle !

Lynn313, I'm not sure what you are asking. The Dasher isnt a Sammi cartridge. My F-class and other dashers are tight neck so a .269 neck rather than no turn standard .272, but if thats not the info you are looking for let me know and I can do some measuring
You want easy you can do a 243. Load with heavier or lighter bullets depending on what you want to do.
That’s what I was wondering. Please don’t go measuring for this. My stock has an 8 month wait time! Everything else is a little quicker, but not anytime soon.
I’ve read that F-class shooters get up to 50+ firing from brass by having custom chambers cut that were minimum over the virgin brass they were using. I was wanting to know if you did that and if so, how many thou over on the body and neck. Is it true on the number of firings per case? * I don’t know anything about F-class.
I would not want to go so tight on a fun or hunting rifle. I would want to cut the chamber as ”tight” as possible while making sure I could still feed good. Maybe 4-6 thou over.
I’m asking because of a whole different subject. I’m not annealing. I think most anneal to extend brass life and maybe consistency on brass hardness. I’m thinking minimizing how much you work your brass is a better solution. A tighter chamber should keep the brass from expanding so much and then use Whidden or Jones custom dies made off fire formed brass measurements to minimize contracting it.
I’m really intrigued by the 6XC & 6CM, though I think that gets me away from the small fun rifle that I want in order to take advantage of what they offer. At the moment I’m leaning toward the dasher.

I have a 6x45, zero freebore. I run 58s hot at 3350fps in a 16 inch barrel, 65s at 3200, and haven't tried much else. Furthest coyotes thru thermal was 586yds. Its a great round, cheap and perfect for short range. Fyi, on prairie dogs, the 6x45 with 58s was the most dramatic at popping them into the air at any range. I am thinking about trying a 6mm/204 next as its close to PPC capacity and should be a tad better. If I could get 3500fps in an 18" barrel, I'd be happy as a clam. Its that or an ARC as it is suited to the heavier bullets but your bolt face will need to be correct for that to work.

I'm a fan of the 6x45(20") and the 6mm ARC or in my case a 6mm Grendel(18") for short barrel bolt guns. The 6x45 is an all around easy round to load and to me, the 6 Grendel is easy also. I don't know what distance or mile per hour you are looking for but average speeds for the 6x45 will get you out to 500 yds. and 6 Grendel can take you to 1000 yds. I also have a 16" 308 Win, just for fun I want to try it out to 1000 yds.
The only difference between the 6 Grendel and the 6mm ARC is that Hornady pushed the shoulder on the ARC back 0.003"!! I don't see any reason why you could not use Lapua brass for any of these cartridges.

Thank you got the information Ron. I just ordered parts right before Christmas. I think the stock will take ~ 8 months. Right before Christmas Jeremy told me GAP had my present build almost finished. They were getting ready to Cerakote. I ordered a SP-10 from Seekins that should be ready by February. Hoping to get it before new gun laws are passed. Mentioned these because my pocketbook will need a breath of air! The wait is going to be good for me!

My of my shots would be under 500 yds with a large percentage being under 300.

Lol johara1. Not worried about starting a fire lol, but do want efficiency. That’s one of many reasons for posting on here. I like comments from people who actually have what I want.
One very respected poster said he has a F-class long barreled 6 dasher and a short barreled fun rifle. He told me not to overthink it that he reloads the same for both.

If I wanted to do something like that, I would use old long range barrels cut a bunch off the back and maybe stick it in a lathe and lighten it up a littl. an 8 twist PPC. will shoot about any bullet then. I had a 103 going almost 2800 in 24" so 88 and 90's should really be good in 20"..... jim
