6BRA load data

Last fall, before a match, I ran this load by a Labradar and it showed speeds of 2963-2972. Averaging ~2969.

Approx. 350 rounds later.... Last month, before another match, I ran this same load by a Labradar and it showed it running consistently around 2925. Not sure what's up with that?....oh well...

This load has been shooting well so I generally don't pay too much attention to the speed that shows up on the Labradar.
Your throat is going to lengthen about .004” every 100 rounds, so about .014” more boiler room then before those 350 rounds. If you seat your bullets out further to make up that distance, you’re still going to get less pressure by increasing case capacity and therefore a drop in velocity. It comes with the territory, I’m on my third Dasher barrel and my velocity predictably dropped as my throat lengthened.
On the good side accuracy usually stays even with that longer jump.

I was loading some ammo today and came across this 600 yard powder “ladder”. It is probably the most interesting representation I have shot of that “flat spot” we look for when tuning a rifle, so I figured I’d post it here.

6BRA, .268” neck, .265” loaded round with a .261” bushing, Lapua brass, 29.6-30.3 gr. of H4895, 205M, Hunter 103gr. It would have been a real mess if the gentle L to R wind hadn’t steadily picked up!

The orange dot is 1”.

Finally back on the range after some shoulder surgery and a ton of Physical Therapy. Trying out the Berger 105 so ran a quick couple powder test to test the shoulder and a new bipod and scope. All seated at jam minus .020. All I had access to was 100 yards to knock off my rust and get some numbers.

Part of me wants to load up at 31.3 but the high(er) SD/ES and the vertical isnt the same scares me a bit... Feel free to drop me your thoughts. Spending this year going slow and learning everything I can.

Below is the first Powder test as well for .3 jumps.

600 yards…..Varget ladder, 31.1 to 31.9 gr, 2 shots each, 103 VT +6, BR-4 (7 thou under rim) Peterson, 265 bu, 267 ld nk, no annealing, still under 100 rounds on standard bart HV bbl
Had pressure at 31.9 gr
5 and 6 are 31.5 gr stacked in each other and was 2962 fps this day

This is a new reamer that I combined from sam hall (463 shoulder) and Wheeler standard bra reamer, Old dominion chambered

Around 2960 with varget is where I've seen good stuff happen.

Anyone shoot 87 grain Bergers with Varget out of a 26” 1:8?

I have been been shooting 105’s out of a straight BR and they just don’t kill that great. I think they are a little slow and the bullet is not expanding. I have a 25” 8 bartlein. It’s very accurate but only getting 2755.

Considering a BRA for more case capacity and a lighter bullet for coyotes 350-600 yards.

Thoughts?

Maybe it's a starting point for you to try. I have been fire forming Lapua brass in my 6BRA with sorted 87grn V-Max bullets and 30.8grn of Varget. Very accurate load in my gun.

So probably little load data around? I wonder if it's better than Reloder 15 for the 108s?
I know the NBRSA Nats were won a couple of years ago with 15*5 in a BRA.

Edit to add link

Check out the equipment list

I'm a beginner and I'm shooting 31.4 of Varget under a Berger 108, seated +.006", BR4 primer, Lapua cases, velocity is 2,940 FPS. My question is...is there a known velocity node for these 108 bullets

I am having a problem getting the velocities everyone else seems to be getting in the BRA. In order to get over 2,900 (actually 2,920) I am at 32.3 gr of Varget with 107SMK, CCI 450 and new (fire-formed and reloaded twice) Peterson brass. I am not getting any pressure signs with this load and it shoots really well. But I am concerned about why I need an extra 1.0gr to get there. Kelbly Atlas, 28" Brux 8 twist (3,500+ rds.), Garmin XERO, AutoTrickler V4. Anyone's thoughts would be appreciated.
