6BRA load data

Dave As a point of reference… for the lot of powder and other components you are using …. What was the charge weight used to get to the low node of 2920 ish ?
It can vary with powder lots as well as barrels. Some barrels are simply faster than others, and they speed up for a hundred rounds, sometimes more. For 103’s I’ve seen it run from 29.7 to 30.2 grains of H4895 for the low node. This particular test it was 30.0 grains and all barrels were 28”.

Dave.

Thanks - That lines up with what I am seeing with Berger 105's. I get really tight at 2890 with that bullet. sounds like the place to be.

well i guess not.. sorry for askin
I've thought about but got no farther than that. Weird thing about 6.5 Stabal though i had a 7-08 improved barrel on the Panda and tested it pretty thoroughly one fall after the match season was done. It tuned up well and gave very good accuracy but the problem was something about the powder kept the Sharpie paint on the bullets from transferring to the target paper at 600 yards, even dripping alcohol on the holes to get the color to bleed off them was pretty tough to do.

I think the accuracy was there but tuning at distance with painted bullets was a big enough pain I decided not to pursue it further.

yeah.. just the Stabal that is good for 223 i think might work.. another powder i have thought about is 2000MR

I have a 6BRA (26" barrel) and am looking for some advice with Berger 105 hybrids. H4895 has been completely unavailable, but I have a quantity of IMR4895. Wonder if anyone has successfully worked up a load with this powder.

I haven’t tested it personally so grain of salt this but a fellow shooter at the range is using imr 4895 and was having some nice looking groups. Said it ran a little slower than h4895. Give it a whirl and let us know how it works out for you.

Got some brass fire formed now
Barrel still may be speeding up but I got some general speeds with R16 and 107 SMK
32.5=2750
33= 2800
33.5=2850 which is the speed I’d like to get
These loads at touch length shot really well today.

Newbie question... Shot a quick powder charge test at 100 yards. 6BRA, Krieger 28 inch, Varget, Berger 108btm, lapua 1x fired brass. Each group went up in 0.3 and shot them all round robin style (first time trying that). Didnt see any real flat spots in the numbers and the last shot from the last two groups (31.0 and 31.3) went way up in velocity. Gave about two minutes before firings and a couple blow offs when the range went cold. Thinking about retesting the upper node from 31.0 - 31.6 (no pressure signs at 31.3) with a .2 step and five shot groups. Any thoughts there?

Ignore the velocity and try to shoot at further distance. Keep all your targets on a horizontal plane. Retest 30.7 thru 31.5 in .2gr increments. I'll bet your rifle will like it somewhere around 31.2-31.5gr
Thanks for the assist. I’ll give that a whirl at 600 this weekend. Appreciate the help
