6BR vs. 22BR

I was searching this web site hoping to find some direct comparision of the accuracy of 22BR vs. 6BR for B/R shooting, paper bunching) under 600 yards. I wasn't able to find any direct comparisions, and thus I'm asking the question now.

Also, how does the 22BR compare to the 223 Remington for paper punching? My original intentions were to get two new high quality 223 Remington barrels, one with a 14 twist for point blank shooting and the other with an 8 twist for longer range. I have a feeling that the 22BR will be much more accurate than the 223, hands down. The only reason I considered the 223 option is that I have all of the dies & tool already, so my only expense will be the barrels.

Regards,
Kory

What action are you using?

The .223 and BR have differnet case head sizes so I think your expenses will be more than just a new barrel/chamber.

Unless I misunderstand you and you are not planning on rebarreling an existing rifle.....

the 22BR will equal or better the 22-250 with less powder

6br barrel will last longer and do a little better in the wind with the heavier bullets available.

6br doesnt require the extra necking step

if you want to KISS, stick with the 6mm

YMMV,
JB

I had a hard time deciding which BR I wanted to so I built 3 of them, 22br 14twist which shoot 52gr match bullets awesome at 100yrds, a 12 twist 6BR which I won a match with a 80gr match bullet on a very windy day but my favorite is the 30BR which shoots good from 100-500yrds in matches in all weather conditions. I have all three and shoot them for different situations with the 30 being my fav for score matches and 22 good for group shooting but like Jason said the 6BR will do everything, score, groups and of course Varmint hunting!!!

I know I didn't help much but hey have fun shooting!!

Tinman what Twist rate do you have in your 30BR and what weight projectiles are you useing at 500.I am haveing a 30BR built at present and was going to get a^6Brx barrel for it as well but may just get two rifles eventually.

I currently use Berger 80gr flat base match bullets, but also like Fowlers.

My 30br is a 18twist Pac-nor 5 groove 24" stainless super match prefit for Savage 1.120" no taper, I am using BIB's 118gr 10 ogive bullets with 34.5 grs of H4198.
