Everyone
Kevin Thomas is right.
I have both the old & new "Blue Box" 6br brass Loaded with several brands of bullets,Berger,Fowler,Knight,Sierra,Barts, and the Neck OD of all my loaded brass (over 300 rounds) is .2672-.2675.
I shoot a 40X with a no turn neck .272 chamber.(Shoots low 2's & 1'S)
With the above mentioned kind of brass consistancy I'am thinking about a new barrel with a .260-270 neck. That should give me .003-.004 neck clearance.
FJIM: I'am not sure I'am ready to try a .268 neck but a .269 may be ok too. You make a good point about the .011 neck thickness. You have me thinking about turning a little. Which I really don't like doing.
I shoot a 6br for it's ability to get lapua brass work up a load and shoot Simplisicty.
