6BR Heavy Powder Fouling with Varget?

Im seeing very heavy powder fouling in a 6 BR shooting a 108 Berger with 29.8 - 30.0g of Varget.
Cleaning with PatchOut then C4. Many more black patches than I’ve seen in other rifles with other powders.

Is this common with Varget?

No idea! But if one wants a clean powder relative to Varget… try IMR 8208XBR or Reloder TS 15.5

I just started load work up with N140, it might be as good as Varget and not as dirty!

I use Varget (AR2208) in my BR. I have been advertising for a small chimney sweep.

+1 on the 8208! Also it doesn't care about bullet weight or the temperature, from 23F to 114F no change. Can't speak to the 15.5, haven't had a chance to try it. R15 is cleaner than Varget but it doesn't like hot weather at all..... John

Eh, I have an 8-lb jug of 140 back from the Obama scarcity days. Barely tapped it and went to concentrate on hunting loads and bigger bores. Thinkin about the little snapper again

Can't tell you on the 110s, never was able to make them shoot out of my rifles, but I start at 29.0 in the BRA and go up .2th at a time with the 103-105s, back off 1gr with the straight BR. My BRAs like 30.3 with Bart's 103s and the 105s, I fire form new Lapua and Peterson brass with 33.5gr and 55noslers bthp shooting prairie dogs and use the same load after fire forming in my truck gun here on the farm. Just be sure to work up slow and watch your primers, only thing about 8208 is it will spike quickly on the upper end. My primers and case expansion are on the moderate side but Ymmv, all barrels are unique... good shooting, John

Not BR, but in a bunch of .308 barrels, I found Varget / 155’s to be the cleanest combo I’ve ever played with. First patches would come out essentially clean, even after hundreds of rounds.
There must be something with the pressure curve, not just peak pressure, that affects fouling.

Also some good bronze brushes. I tried using just patches with no luck so now I use a bronze brush along with patches.

If Varget is dirty, Reloader 15 must be the slop it rolls in....

Switched from Varget to TS15.5 in my 6 Dasher a while back, the 15.5 is a breeze to clean up.

Varget is dirty but it shoots 87gr vmaxs quite well in my 10tw 6br.

I will give it up when gone.

Never saw it in my Palma Rifles when I shot Palma.
Do find is more so in my .284's with H-4350?
