6BR ground hog Bullet

I am looking for a custom bullet to try in my 6BR. I have been using a 87 grain V-max. Ballistics have been great just trying to find a little more consistent accuracy.

I have been hunting deer and varmints with Bart’s 68 Avenger and/or 80 gr Dominator for nearly a decade now.

If there’s anything finer, I won’t be looking for it.

Life is too short to shoot average (bad) bullets. Go custom.

Barts 80 Gr Dominator is one of my favorite 6mm bullets, but I’ve never thought about using them on critters.

75gr Vmax, 80gr Sierra Blitz, 70gr NBT, 85gr Sierra HPBT all work great. And yes, the Barts bullets work well on 'chucks at the range. You didn't mention your twist rate etc so kinda difficult to say which might work best in your application(s). WD

I have a 1- 10 twist barrel. The 87 v max does a great job on critters at distance. I have dropped a few around 350 -375 yards and they were still explosive. My goal is go beyond 400 this next year if I can find a field and set up that will allow that. I have used custom bullets before and I really like the accuracy and consistency. The 87 V max is not terrible on accuracy in my gun. I was just seeing if any custom bullet guys made a varmint bullet.

I could not get the 87 gr V Max to shoot well in my 6BR, I switched to the Berger 88 g High BC flat based Varmint bullet. It is a VLD secant ogive bullet. I use an 8 twist barrel, Varget, and it is very accurate.

Depending on the distance you are shooting at, the Barnes 58 gr varmintor shoots as good as a custom in my 6BR and Sako 6mm PPC USA. Very well priced also.

The 87 V-Max shot pretty poorly in my 8tw. 6BR tube I tried it in, though the 75 V-Max is exceptionally accurate, fed with Reloader 15.

They’re outstanding. I started with the 68 Avenger and have shot literally hundreds of coyotes, cats and deer with it. I built a 1:10 BR when we started hunting mule deer again (with the intention to shoot 87 VLDs) but the 80 Dominator shoots so well I just couldn’t NOT use it. I’ve shot a bunch of coyotes with the 80 so far, but I’ve been hunting deer with my bow so can’t report. I find coyotes a heck of a lot harder to put down than deer though, so it won’t be an issue.
