6br groundhog bullet

Careful what you wish for, part of the fun is not only hearing but seeing the hit. The heavier the bullet the more recoil and scope movement. I use the 80 grain Berger’s in my 12 twist 6br. On Praire Dogs I use the lead free 55 grain Nosler BT.

HEY,.. I'm NOT, the least bit, "surprised" as, the V-Maxes, ES was almost, 3X HIGHER than, the 87 grain HVLD Berger's were,.. when, we were Chrono / accuracy testing, both Loads !
I'm NOT, a Match shooter, so WON'T bother to, "sort", for a Coyote bullet at, 100 to 400 yards, as they, WON'T know,.. the Difference ( I'm pretty,.. SURE ! ) LOL !
MY # 1 store bought, favorite, Bullet= Berger's ! And the Bullet of "choice" IF, the shots are, further out ( say 400+ ).
MY #2,.. ditto, ditto,.. Bullets,..are, Sierra's ! The 80 grain #1515 Varminter Blitz,.. shoots, a tiny bit, "tighter" than, the V-maxes, in MY Rifle ! But the red tipped, V-Maxes, ARE,... Prettier !
I guess I'll be the guy that finally says it. I can't even come close to figuring out what you are saying in your posts.

I was wanting to see if you guys that shoot ground hogs with a 6BR may have a Bullet of choice. I have a 1:10 barrel. I prefer shooting the critters beyond 300 yds. I have used the 87 Vmax and it does well. I was just going to try a bullet that may be a little more accurate in my gun.

Only way to find a bullet a little more accurate in YOUR GUN, is to purchase a few others and see how they group in YOUR GUN.

@ STS,.. Sorry, I was responding to, Russell J about, the inconsistent base to ogive lengths of, the Hornady 87 gr. V-Max bullets and how they shot and chronographed about 3 times worse ( higher ) , FPS of, Extreme Spread
( aka, ES ) in my gun vs the 87 grain Berger HVLD's ( Hunting very Low Drag ) and used my, poorly written grammer, again,.. sorry !
Berger's are, my favorite "store bought" ( vs Custom made ) Bullet and Sierra is # 2 for, accuracy and consistency, in most of my guns. I've found that, Hornady and Nosler have kind of "loose" tolerances Lot to Lot and sometimes even in, the same Box !
That's what I get for, "assuming" that, everyone knows, exactly what it IS that, I'm talking about !
You're NOT the first one, to misunderstand me and laugh about it, as,.. I barely passed English as, a Kid !

Berger 88 flat base. Just my two cents. Tommy Mc

You are not alone. My 6BR won't shoot 87 V-Max. However - it absolutely LOVES the 75's. It also likes the Barnes 62 Varmint Grenades, though not much past 500 or so. I run 8 twist though.

with a 1/8 twist barrel how will the 75 to say85 grain bullets work as far as grouping goes
One of my 1/8 barrels shoots the 75 V-Max into .200 MOA. That same barrel disliked the bullets I tried in the 80-90 range (Bergers, V-Max, etc.) though will put 105 Scenar L bullets into even smaller groups.
