"6br for newbies"

This will be my last question...for today. I was researching on accurateshooter for 6br load development. Found a 6br for newbies article.

The site says to start at 29 and go to about 30.7 it says to do this increase in .2 grain increments.

Not to contradict the information, but if I'm doing an OCW test to find a load for my 6br. Could I do the charge weights in .3 grain increments instead of is this too large of an increase?

When fireforming with a brand new barrel I loaded 29.4-30.3 and all shot under .5. some in the low .3s.

Also, could I start the OCW at 29.4? I have a 26in barrel. Am I really going to find a node below 29.4gr with varget?

Using 108eldm,107smk and 105bthp. Seeing which one I like the most.

Thanks fellas

Ive had idk 14-16 6BR Barrels. 30gr of varget under 105 Hybrid, 105 BTHP or 107smk touching the lands to 0.02 off depending which bullet just shoots lights out..

I literally just shot this in a brand new 28" Bartlein 7.5 twist...30gr Varget, touching lands, Berger 105 Hybrid....0.25moa 5 shot groups at 200yd.... same at 300yd....stupid easy, stupid accurate.

6BR is the easiest cartridge to reload for...it's shot everything I've thrown in it.

My other load us 29.4gr H4895 107smk...one hole accurate...

Don't over think it...just go shoot.

Padom, have you used any lower charges of H4895 with any luck to be easy on the brass? I just got a new 6br on paper the other day with 26.5 grains out of a 7.5 twist 27” barrel. Didn’t have much time but did run a few over magneto-speed, avg 2720fps.These were Hornady 105 hpbt bullets.

I havent...but been shooting 29.4gr H4895 for years and it's easy on brass. 20+ reloads with Lapua.....

I’m my experience with 103 grain bullets and Varget in a benchrest gun, the nodes are going to be about .3 -.4 grains wide. So you run the risk of missing them all with .3 grain increments, but you’d have to be pretty unlucky. .2 is safer, but once you get a feel for your rifle is probably overkill.
