6br ejecting from a mechanical ejector?

I have an American rifle company nucleus action chambered in 6br with manners stock and primal instinct magazine adapter. The gun feeds and shoots well but it often leaves the empty case in the action. Is this common to all calibers in this action or is it that a mechanical ejector with the short fat 6br case is a bad combination. Do all mechanical ejectors like kelblys atlas tactical and bighorn tl3 do the same thing with the short fat case? I’ve been tempted to go to one of them. I have some dummy rounds loaded and they eject way better with the weight of the bullet.

I havent seen one of those actions yet. But I have three kelbly grizzly 2's with the mechanical tg ejector and factory sliding plate extractors. They always ejected my dasher empties, they always eject my br-improved and 260 cases as well.

Does the extractor pull and hold the case straight back like it was chambered? Or does it come back angled?

Ill have to pay closer attention. I believe it comes back straight and doesnt have enough stroke on the extractor to push it out without slamming the bolt back. If that makes sense.

My coyote calling rifle, a Kelbly Atlas Tactical with an AICS magazine feeds/ejects 22BR/40gr flawlessly. Since it's a mechanical ejector the bolt does have to be pulled all the way back, of course, so that the pin on the bolt stop can push on the ejector. Pulling the bolt part of the way back leaves the case on the bolt face, which is handy when firing single-shot (as in load development).

A br case just isnt ideal for a repeater. Not sure how all this got started the last few years but its just going to always be a problem. The case is too short. Sure some work and those guys that have had or have one will call me crazy but when you deal with it every day its a problem more often than not

That’s about how mine runs with dummy rounds too. Problem is when it’s a fired case without a bullet I really have to slam it back.

I think you need to find your "rhythm" for ejecting cases. If you try to go too cautiously, you can let one sit in the raceway. You dont have to pull it back so quickly as to send the case to egypt, but just find the rhythm.

Could be a big part of it. I have so many other guns I shoot on a regular basis it’s hard for me to get good at running a fussy action/caliber setup.

No, they work well. No issues. Yours is not working properly. I would inspect it, or send it in for repair. The Nucleus is the same extractor as the Mausingfield. @steve123 runs 6BR in his.

That our fault! We wanted a 6BR repeater, because 6BR kicks ass. We enlisted AJ @ Bighorn to help us figure out the magazines. Eventually we got the magazines to work and the rest is history. I run magazine fed Bighorn TL2's with no feeding, extraction or ejection issues.

Delfuego do you think the bighorn tl3 would be good action to try the 6br in?
Not personally. However, one of my best buddies won the Raton Sporting Rifle match yesterday with a TL3 6BR repeater. Running a new Mark Chanlynn prefit barrel. PM me if your interested in more details :)

It pulls it back straight as it would in the chamber. I’m guessing it’s just not a feel that I’m used to. I’ll get out tomorrow and pay more attention to the old girl.

Hey there Del,

Was that Kevin that won???

I think the Bighorn TL3 is the most dependable for the BR based cases from what I've seen, you guys have it dialed in well for the BR's.

If I don't bring the bolt back fast in my Mausingfield it'll turn the case around. I got used to doing that but...

I don't think they are out yet ??? but I would like to try a Borden Super Short 6 some day.

What action was Jeff using yesterday, if you happen to know?

I need to practice more!

He did! 1st and 3rd place were both new 6BR Chanlynn prefits.
I can't remember what he was running, I took a look and am pretty sure it was an Impact. Rusty had an Impact Dasher too.

Tell Kevin I said congrats~!

I noticed Rusty had a case turn around backwards in his Impact, happened during the single load stage. I was 100% but I gotta look around for the brass because it goes flying who knows where.

You shot well too!

Love my 6mmBR! Can't believe I already have 500 rounds through it.

I'm running a Bighorn TL2 kinda, (pre-Bighorn
Goddard action) Chanlynn pre-fit 6BR same as Kevin, my reamer. Disadvantages and advantages to both. The spring ejector can and will dent the mouth of the case on extraction. My Kelblys with the mechanical ejector does not but! The mechanical ejector system takes some getting use to. Soft stroke it, and the BR case can flip. Run it hard and no problem. On my Eliseo BR I kept shortening the ejector spring till it didn't dent the case mouth. I'm running the Primal Rights kits for mine by the way. Love me my BR!
