6br bullets for coyotes

Yes your right, I could use my 95g SMK's and even if I hit in the lungs it will still run some.
With a explosive expanding bullet, won't have to look or track with the same hit.

With those 60 gr. Sierras you need ear muffs for when the rifle fires AND for the pop that comes back when it hits a coyote.

I shot a LOT of coyotes with the 60g Sierra Hp in zero freebore 243's and 6 Remingtons, and they kill very well, break hips, ribs, shoulders.

75g Sierra hp does very well also.

80g sierra blitz bT is a fabulous coyote bullet, with a very, very loud plop when the bullet hits, good penetration.

All of these sierra's give fantastic killing ability, even when hit behind the diaphragm. 70g Nosler ballistic tips are tougher than all the above.

No doubt in my mind that a 55g Nosler ballistic tip in 6 mm would be a fantastic bullet for coyotes, speed kills.

So I'm getting my 50 fb reamer. I was thinking of just using the 50 instead of the zero. I would really like to shoot the 70s and the 80 Blitz.

Alex Wheeler said the 60 Sierra works perfect in a 60 fb.

They dump 100% energy instantly. Large parts go flying. Much like a prairie dog hit. They are not quite as accurate as other bullet's but they will stay inside an inch at 100yds. For video just google (barnes varmint grenade) you will see what's up !

I like the 75gr Vmax. With your 8 twist barrel they should be devastating on coyotes.

I'm running the 95gr TMK in mine. Killed 2 Coyotes with it so far. One was a hard charger that I hit right in the shoulder junction as ran right towards me at 17 paces. There was a giant hole and blood and bone everywhere. The 2nd one I hit just behind the shoulder as he ran by at about 20 paces. Pin hole in and nickel sized exit. Both were just as dead.

I have shot lots of coyotes using many different varmint bullets - ranging from small 58 V-Max, mid-weight Bergers, 62 Varmint Grenade, 75 V-Max, etc. Within the range you are talking about, it matters little about your choice. The smaller bullets tend to dump all of their energy into the animal and the larger bullets a bit less. The 62 Varmint grenade is the only bullet I've used within 300 yards where the coyote never ran off. They are like a lightening bolt. I currently use the 75 V-Max as I take longer shots and the 87 V-Max won't shoot as accurately in my rigs.

My 6BR sees 55/58gr bullets. Of the few powders I've tried AA2230 has proved just perfect for that gun and loads. Very accurate at velocities - take your pick - anywhere from about 3650 to high 3900's which is where I shoot them. Haven't shot a coyote but those light plastic tipped bullets just blow the crap out of a rockchuck. I'm sure they'd do quite nicely on coyotes. Hart 24" barrel, .271" neck, 0 freebore, twist if memory serves is 14".
