i am getting ready ti build a 6br for informal bench shooting and prairie dog hunting. I am thinking a 10 twist would be a good choice for 600 yard shooting. What do you think? Lee

I think a 1:10 would be the way to go. I have a 28' 1:10 Krieger. I can shoot 95 BIBs or 95 Berger VLD in it to go long. It also loves 80 and 90 Bergers. My favorite varmint bullet is the 75 VMax which as shoots great in the barrel. I have a new 1:8 Shilen I got for the 105/107s, but I get so much good out of the 1:10, that I just don't put it on at 500 yds and under.

Of course there is a lot of load data available the 1:8 and a 105/107 bullet. When little tuning to do in my experience.

My 2 cents, tiny

I also think that's a good choice for that range. A Lot of new guys want to shoot 105s+ at all distances, but I believe if your shooting at 600 or less you dont need that heavy or long a bullet, and all the stabilisation and load problems that often go along with them.

I would highly recommend the 1-8 twist, that way you can shoot all bullets. I promise, when the wind kicks up, you'll wish you had the 105grn bullets to shoot, they really make a difference in the wind.

I would obtain a 1-8 or 1-8.5 twist Brux barrel and think will you will be very pleased shooting anything from a 87 gr V-Max to a 108 Berger.

I have shot 75grn V-Maxes out of my 1-8 Bartlein and it loves them. Go with the 1-8 twist barrel. You'll be happy you did.

I saw a guy with a 1-12' shoot a 1.3' at 600yds...with 88's

I got two Brux barrels; a 1-8' for my 6Br build on a Rem 700, and a 1-8.4' for a 6 Dasher on a Savage Target.

I'm not great with numbers but I will say don't count out a 95 in the wind. The added velocity may overcome the slightly heavier bullets. Also the smaller case is possibly more efficient with the smaller bullets.
