6BR or 22-250 AI

Well NoFun, if you're still in here, I recommend the 6 BR. For what your stated goals are it is better than the .22-250 standard or AI. How many 300-, 400- or 600-yard matches have been won by a .22-anything?

The 6 BR is one of the most efficient cartridges ever made. It will shoot a broad variety of bullets and powders as well or better than any other cartridge. Recoil, muzzle blast and torque are very minimal. I have two 6 BR barrels with over 2,800 rounds each through them and they will still shoot 1/2 MOA even though Lord knows where the lands are anymore.

If you choose a 6 BR with 1:10 twist it will accurately handle from 55- to 90-gr. bullets and you will have a real shooting machine. Enjoy!

P.S. It will change your handle from "nofun" to "wayfun"!

I want to build a custom Varmint\paper puncher am thinking of a 6BR or a 250 AI, I have never had either I would appreciate any suggestions and also good bullet weights for either. I am thinking midrange varmint 2-400 yards and 100-200 yard target shooting. informally. not for competition I am going to build it off a Rem 700VLS

Go with the 6mm BR. I have both and if I had to choose between the two, it would be the 6mm BR. It is an inherently accurate cartridge, great Lapua brass, plenty of load data, and easy on barrels.
