600 Yard BR Gun - Easy Button?

Thanks for all the help. If anyone has a proven 6BR reamer that plays nice with the 100 grain plus class of bullets and a Harrells die and would be willing, I’d pay you a loaner fee to borrow it to do a single barrel.

Get varget powder cci 450 primers and a 6br ,6 bra or 6 dasher , 8 or 7.83 brux or bartlein bbl and some 108 berger bullets and what you build will be competitive . like a bra but i have h4895 ,so i think the br would work for you.

This is easy!
Straight 6BR No-Turn (.272 neck). 104-.112 freebore in that range.
1-8tw Krieger, Bartlein or Brux. HV contour 28 inches.
108 Berger 108BT’s are shooting as good as anything out there these days including customs are are the easiest bullet to tune I have ever used. Note: I am not sponsored by Berger! Lol
Varget works well and you can get it right now!
The straight 6BR shoots as good as any improved and is much easier to understand. I shot it for years!

Do what he said

Sam Hall can beat most of us with his eyes closed. I have had a very successful straight 6mmBR 600-yard rifle, that shoots 1/4-MOA or better at 100/200.

The 6mmBR is super convenient for dies, reamers etc. However, for a new rifle I'd be tempted go with the 6BRA. I have found in all my barrels, accuracy improved when I got 103s and 105s into the 2910+ fps range. My barrels liked that node which can be hard to reach with the straight 6mmBR in many barrels. I CAN get 2910 FPS with 103s in my 27" PacNor 6BR using Varget and CCI 450s.

My UL UBR rifle started out as a 600 yard light rifle. It’s a Borden drop port in 6 BRA 8 twist and shoots 103s very very well at 600,, I put a 13.5 twist 6 PPC barrel on it for UBR score and it shoots pretty dang good for that also
Alex built the rifle originally with his 4 inch stock and Tim Claunch does PPC barrels for it.
Get a bolt that will work for both cases unless you’re gonna shoot a 30BR in UBR IMG_5449.jpegIMG_5642.jpegIMG_5898.jpeg

Nice rifle @Eric Leonard. My action has a combo bolt face so I can pull PPC or BR cases. I have PPC and 30BR barrels in both cartridges ready to go for UBR, so I’m weighing my options with a long range barrel.

I have a lot of irons in the fire. Hate to spend $1000 plus to get geared up for a 6BR only to find out that the 600 yard game isn’t for me. I think I’ll go shoot a match first before I commit. @Brad Johnson has made me a generous offer to shoot one of his guns so that makes a lot of sense.

Again, thanks to all who provided solid information. Y’all have made this pretty simple if and when I commit to this.

A no turn 6 BRA sure sounds like what you want.
I haven’t even had the 8 twist barrel on mine since I put the PPC on it and started shooting it in UBR ,

Great advise from Mr. Hall.
I would use Wheelers 103gr or Vapor Trail 103gr. I use them both.
Good Luck and welcome.

Vapor Trail 103’s are great too! I did not want to recommend something that the OP may not be able get quickly. Maybe Alex can chime in about when he will be up and running with the Wheeler 103’s to the public? I am sure there is a list.

also a thiught

Again do a plain old 6br

if you think you need more later get it re-chambered for 6bra

easy to do just make sure you have a long shank

Use a round that will be competitive at 1K. You are kind of close to a few great matches at that range, it will be nice to have the option to shoot them and feel like you aren't " under gunned ". When I shot the 6bra my happy place was 2960ish.......28" HV 8t

Get a few barrels from Chris before the price hike.....I ordered 2 yesterday.

Regards
Rick
