600 IBS at Manatee?

FYI. Last year’s nationals this topic was coveted and allowed. Heavy steel rear rest with a sand bag are ok to use as long as they don’t have elevation options (adjustable feet). See IBS current rules book.
PS. For LG. HG. Was already ok to use.
IBS light guns using mechanical rear rests..
When did that happen ?

There are separate rule books for IBS 600 and 1,000, as they're two different disciplines. I have not read the 600, so you might check for yourselves to be sure. My light gun equipment will likely stay "old school" just for ease of use, but it does look like 600 has relaxed the light gun requirements. That was one of the few topics that I got push back on when we created the new 1,000 yard rulebook, so 1,000 is still the "old way".

600 not 1k, was discussed for 1k at DC and left as it was.
Not mechanical. Just a monkey rest. Steel/ sandbag.

The typical monkey rest at the Manatee Gun club consists of at least 100 pounds of solid steel plates combined front and rear. No padding just aluminium plates or nylon covered with a material. Matching stock with plates to fit into the "rests claiming sand paper aluminum and nylon to make it legal. Usually requiring additional help to set up because of the weight. Monkeys would be helpful with the weight, but they are only used to pull the trigger as they stand along side of the bench. Tampa Zoo is booked up with monkey rentals for our state shoot. LOL
That setup is plumb ridiculous.

I can't tell much from the picture other than the rifle has a rudder of sorts and appears to be "Tactical"
With the lack of rules in the Freedom BR TAC class I think that would be a good place to try out experimental things that are not within or severely bending the rules of LG or HG. Or keep it in Unlimited HG

I'll apologize to @Alex Wheeler for being a part of derailing the thread here as well as confusing it with Freedom vs IBS talk but the whole "monkey rest" issue is a good example of the differences between the rules and the inability of not just the organizations but the shooters themselves to agree on a set of rules.
So here's a few pics of my rear bag and holder
Yes it has leveling screws, easily removed if that's beyond the rules.
I've yet to use the screws in a full year of matches but put them there to use on the occasional hump back bench.
There's got to be very close to 1" of sand in the bag between the gun and base.
The base itself is full of heavy sand and it sits on a thin piece of drawer liner.
Of course the bag ears can be tensioned but we all either have or have seen people use some kind of fabric laid in the ears to "tighten" the ears of a conventional bag.
It can technically be rear steered with the ear tensioners but it immediately derails the tracking if you start screwing with the ears so at least for me it's a sand bag on top of a steel pedestal. Nothing more
So after the last few years with the start of a new organization with some new rules and a rewrite & separation of 600 & 1000 yard rules within the IBS that included some rule changes for these bag holders, pedestals, rear rests, to become the tipping point for people and you start hearing talk about the "spirit of the rule" this and that when it gets to a rule they possibly don't want to have spend a little money on ($50 used front bag out of the classifieds here and scrap steel from work) because they perceive this one change as some kind of huge advantage...
well I'll just say my mind is blown.
With that above being said I'm not trying to give my friends @ Deep Creek a black eye, the regulars discussed and it some didn't want it so it is what it is but I am just using it as an example of how one organization can't agree let alone multiple. Or I'm 100% wrong and there was a vote and it was unanimous. I don't care either way and accept Tom's comments earlier in the thread.
I'll still shoot at DC and bring along a Wheeler rudder and my 3/4" Lenzi bag for my LG
The only thing I was trying to accomplish here was use a Steelman rudder not in the ginormous Protektor style bag that takes up most of the back of the bench and puts my gun farther away from me because of the overall size of it and the centered ears plus puts the gun too high on the bench for my comfort as well.
Too long a story probably but proves one organization can't please everybody. We all seem to have that one thing or two where we draw the line LOL
It's almost Rendevouz time... always a great week of shooters from different organizations and disciplines having a great time and just shooting as it should be!
