6 X 47 Lapua Neck Dia.

Would like to hear what no-turn neck diameter seems to work best for this caliber. I am going to have a reamer made & haven't quite decided what neck diameter to spec. Your help would be appreciated.

I got my reamer from PT&G and was the very reamer shown on 6mmhot.com. The .275 reamer seems to work very well on no-turn brass. While I have not turned the brass per se, the concentricity of the 6.5X47 brass I've had was very poor and they required turning to even the diameter of the case necks and I have turned them to a neck wall thickness of 14 thou.

Should the necks be turned and cleaned up before the case is sized down to .243, or after initial sizing ? Have a bunch of new brass and looking at prepping for new barrel.Thanks for any info.

signut, I have tried it both ways and I get better runout measurements to run a K & M expander in the necks and turn them at 6.5 and then neck them down to 6 MM. If you are turning for a no-turn chamber, then just take .001 to .0015 off and let that be it. Bill
