6 PPC 'Node' ?

I recently started shooting 6 PPC and am tinkering with VV133 & 68 Barts Ultras. I had been advised that there was a 'node' at 28.7 grains of VV. My rifle seems to like this. Are there any other 'nodes' for this load and what exactly is a 'node'? Thanks as always/ Chaz

The node is right around 3450fps but you will have to run them HOT. Quickload says you need to put 31.5grn of N133 in there to reach that vel. out of a 22' tube at 76,000psi.
I by no means am telling you to just drop that amount of powder in there and go to town. Work up to it and remember if your worried about case life this is not the load for you. Back when speedy was still shooting he shot one match load out of his brass and threw them away at these pressures.

Is there a 'node' at a lighter load than 31 grains? I have no desire to buy & turn new brass after every match.......and what is a 'node'?

chazgreen...When the rifle is fired, the barrel 'whips'. At the most upper and the most lower peaks of the 'whip' where barrel stops to change direction are the 'nodes'. These 'nodes' or 'dead spots' are where you want the bullet to exit the barrel. There are several 'nodes'. The best way to find these 'nodes' is to start by loading down low and progressively load up in say .2-.3gn increments while watching your groups on the target. You will see your groups tighten and open up as you go into and out of the 'nodes'. Try 3 3shot goups at each powder charge starting at around 26.5gn/N133. Your tightest groups will be at these 'nodes'. Just pick one you feel comfortable with for your shooting style. If working new brass is not your thing, ain't mine),choose a load that suits your shooting style with reasonable accuracy. Some of these lower 'nodes' shoot Very well,.1's-low .2's in good conditions).
I hope this has helped you...good luck...gpoldblue@yahoo.com

My PPC goes best with 29.5gr N133 under the Barts 69gr FBHP match. Not got around to my stash of Ultra's yet.

My velocity is around 3330 fps depending on temperature using 205s and seated 2 thou off the lands in a 22 inch No 5 profile Shilen tube, good fox load.

Lighter loads open the group. I recon that 31.5gr x N133 would be a compressed load and will show heavy cratering. At 29.5 the 205s are just starting to crater.
