Don't over look the Berger 95grn Hunting VLD bullets in a hunting Dasher setup. I have a 6mm Dasher rifle assembled with a short freebore(.055"), 23" X-Caliber ramage barrel, B&C stock and with a CDI box magazine. It feeds 87grn and heavier bullets very well. I'm shooting the 95grn Berger Hunting VLD bullets just under 3000fps with RL15 powder and getting single digit SD's.Been searching on here and haven’t quite found the answer I’m looking for. I’m strictly a hunter and dont shoot competitions. I’m thinking about building a 22-24” barrel 6 Dasher. With a 100-105 class bullet can I expect to get close to or reach 3000 fps? Or is this being to optimistic? I would like a low recoil 500 yd whitetail gun. Or should I just build a 6 Creed or 6x47? Already have two 6.5x47’s.
Hammer bullets have peaked my interest as well. I think the 101 gr Hammer Hunter would be a good bullet in the 6 Dasher. But again I can't get them in Canada!! So frustrating as I only live 15 miles off the ND border. I may import some this summer in 6.5,6mm and 7mm. IF not I think I will try the 105 Berger and the 103 ELD-X.Go the dasher with norma brass and appropriate reamer, you wont be sorry. The dasher is no more costly to build and operate than the 6x47L. Dies are the same price and no fire forming with the Norma Dasher brass. You can get a semi custom Harrels full length bushing die, fit to 3 3x fired cases from your rifle, for 67.00 and a forester micrometer seating die for 70.00. I'm thinking about doing one just like you but to shoot monolithic bullets for my Ca. deer hunting gun, looking at the Hammer bullets. Keep us posted on your progress.
I realize this is a lot of work and I could make things a lot easier. But what fun would that be? For me it’s all about collecting the parts and having something other guys don’t shoot. We will say I’ve got the custom gun addiction. I don’t own any over the counter guns anymore. Not that they wouldn’t work for me, but I’ve gone a different direction. That sounds like a lot of work for a hunting rifle. You don't need 3000 fps for deer or antelope. I do not have one hunting rifle that runs more than 2900 fps. My .243 with 100 grain soft points runs about 2880 and has killed many pronghorn and deer. Only need deer-of-angle accuracy and decent stalking skills.

I have used Varget, but prefer Reloader 15. I would suggest that you try both.Just picked up 100 pieces of 6 Dasher Norma brass. Another question I have is what’s the best powder to run in a Dasher? I have Varget but that’s all I have that would be suitable for the dasher. What’s the most temp stable powder that produces top velocity?
I'm shooting a fairly stiff load behind Berger 105's, but during the rifle deer season only (cooler temps). I haven't tested that load during July and August temperatures. I have shot lesser loads punching paper in several different temperature ranges without problems. My advice is test, test, test. Better safe than sorry. From the Alliant website, but remember they are advertising and selling. Is RL15 temp stable? I’m in Canada so I shoot in huge temp swings. From plus 70-90 to -30. But I will try both to see what my rifle likes.
