6 Dasher barrel length

Hi Guys,

I've already looked at previous threads, but can't find a definitive answer as to an ideal barrel length for a 6 Dasher, shooting lapua 105 scenars out to 1000 yards.
Blanks tend to be 30" max over here, but would I be better off with say a 28" and putting weight into the profile instead of length ?

thanks

Hi,

The 2" extra will not matter much for speed. If you have to make weight and balance the rifle, you may be better off with putting the weight of that 2" of steel somewhere in the stock for balance.

If you are under weight and the rifle will balance, keep it at 30". Can't hurt, and as someone else mentioned, it will help when you recut the barrel after it starts to wear some.

Hi i have just had a 6mm Dasher built with tuner and it has a 26" barrel on Sunday we had our first 1000 yard practice and i shot a 6.5" group and 48 points for the smallest group and highest score barrel length is not evrything get a stif barrel and have it ballenced anywhere from 26" plus.
