6 BR-DX vs 6 Dasher

I'm do for setting back my 28" long, 1 in 8" twist, 4 groove Krieger (chambered in 6BR) and am contemplating between these 2 cartridges. Will I be losing accuracy at 100 & 300 yards with either of the 2 mentioned cartridges vs my original 6BR chambering ?

Donovan is on the money, but i would prefer the Dasher. You can't go wrong with either, they will hold their own at 1K and will shoot in a tenth at one hundred........jim

Re: 6 Dasher vs 6-6.5x47 Lapua

I've built several Dashers & 6x47s for myself, and have shot both in both LR BR & LR prone matches. Can't speak about accuracy at anything under 600yds, so don't have an opinion on point blank accuracy differences between the two. I do think the Dasher will hold tighter vertical than the 6x47 at either 600 or 1000.

The 6x47 will push the 115s at the same or somewhat higher velocity than the Dasher with no strain. In rifles of the same weight, the extra 6grs or so of powder I load in the 6x47 produces a little more recoil, and a corresponding increase in throat erosion. Then theres the issue of the price of 6.5x47 brass costing considerbly more than BR brass.....is it worth it? I'm glad I've played with both, and I'll continue to shoot both, but honestly, I'm so pleased with my Dashers that if I had to choose between the two, the smaller cartridge would get the nod.

Dasher by far better than 6-6.5x47 just look at results on any match on how well it will shoot. 8)

I appreciate all of your responses, and am now leaning toward the Dasher.

But, after reading the 6BR "Improved" page on this forum, what can you guys tell me about the 6BR-DX ?

Whatever cartridge that I decide on, I still want to shoot 105-108 grain bullets.

Thanks, G

It would probably shoot just as good, But the cost of custom dies would shey me away from it. It does not offer anything that the dasher or the BRX already does. If it an't broke don't fix it!!!

I shoot the Dasher and would not think of switching.

Just my .02 cents worth.

Whidden gunworks has BR-Dx resizing dies for the BR-DX. For a seater die I used a redding 6br comp seater die and ran my BR-DX reamer in the sliding sleeve. I shoot two rifles in BR-DX they both shoot great. The BR-DX gives you more neck to play with than the dasher.

When I did some research on doing a improved BR, I wanted to do the DX as well. But at the time, custom dies were the only way to go then. Now with John making DX dies, if I were going to do an improved version, the DX would be the way I would go. I like the ease of forming, it seems to shoot very well when forming and I like the fact that you get to keep that long neck when forming the case as well. Just like any other wildcat round, when more ppl start shooting it and making demands for dies, the companies will eventually listen. It just takes time and enough demand for them to make the move. I am glad to hear that John is making dies for the DX. It makes me re-think the concept of going that route again in the future.
