I looked thru the shipping requirements from these folks. It looks to me that he has to buy an export license to ship to Australia. Cost? 10% of the total order.
The guy in Australia also has to buy an import license.
Looks doable, but a lot of hoops to jump through. They ship USPS (UGH) and it has to pass through customs.

Unfortunately there are no free lunches importing projectiles into OZ, there are some ridiculous laws with international import export on guns and anything gun related... Last year I ordered a reamer from JGS which was fine but it was illegal for them to send me a reamer PRINT in any form, posted,emailed etc... Go figure!!!

This is where the price hikes come into the equation, not to mention exchange rates. 3-4 years ago we were looking good on the exchange rate front with near parity but now the the aussie dollar in freefall, not to mention export/import fees, we're pretty well screwed no matter which way we look at it.
FWIW I know some of our guys who have shot in New Zealand for a major team have to have all their loaded ammo shipped by way of a major bullet manufacturer on pallet. Major PiTa and forced them to load ammo months and months ahead of the match just so it could arrive on time.
Also, the shear cost of shipping hasn’t been addressed much but as someone who used to ship some stuff there I know the cost alone can make it a really price prohibitive to start.
I really feel for you guys down there and hope some kind of channel opens up soon for you.

berger bullets?? I didn't know you could buy them in Australia from a shop!!!!! the only way I have ever got them is buying from other generous shooters who have some and willing to sell.
I was buying lapua scenars not sure if anyone else has noticed but Ive notice a steep price hike on the scenars at all the shops in Australia recently, before I was able to get them for less than 60cents per bullet they now are priced around the imaginary berger. Sierra are the biggest joke going down here $1 per projectile for a 142 6.5 smk!!!! They may as well not bring them in at all.
I'm looking to copperhead now have just sent ken an email today. Any of you tried the 6.5 140 vld of kens??

I must be one of the lucky one's that still has a few years supply left in the cupboard. Even a few thousand 6mm VLD's for a 6BR that hasn't been built yet, if ever.
No wonder a Mate was so keen to take a thousand 6.5's off my hands when I needed some quick cash to buy stock feed. Think he might of got a bargain.

Hey guys thanks for all the replies but yeah as its been said it's not a fast or cheap exercise to get bullets from the US to Oz..
With the export licence then an import licence on this end . You really need to get a bulk order with a heaps of blokes to make it worth while)
I even asked Kelbly to send me a firing pin spring to Oz and they need an export permit and stuff.... Wtf it just a spring, the same thing off a Carbi or throttle body or any spring (which would all be fine to send) but because its off a firearm it's a no go . Just some stupid rules out there .

Hang on, Stuart was shooting Copperheads as may another team member or two. I've an interesting photo of Stuart sitting at his reloading bench with Walt Berger beside him and boxes of Copperheads sitting on the table...It's a real pity that Walt Berger is not in control any more of what a brilliant business he designed and started.
