6 and 7mm Berger Bullets send to Australia

Guy from international at Berger just called back and said he is pretty sure an individual shipping bullets to another person will need an export license :(

you as a person can, manufactured product, get ready for freight,,but you can't send paint balls or paint GUNS,,been checking all afternoon,,personal only,,customs forms,,
brown truck of happyness, if they got them,,

It shouldn't be that difficult.
So are you telling me a brother from another mother down under can't receive a small package from someone stateside for a holiday?
Then said brother sends a Bday card back to him with a cash gift.

Unfortunately there are no free lunches importing projectiles into OZ, there are some ridiculous laws with international import export on guns and anything gun related... Last year I ordered a reamer from JGS which was fine but it was illegal for them to send me a reamer PRINT in any form, posted, emailed etc... Go figure!!!

Edit: this had nothing to do with JGS and there service which was A class...

I looked thru the shipping requirements from these folks. It looks to me that he has to buy an export license to ship to Australia. Cost? 10% of the total order.
The guy in Australia also has to buy an import license.

Looks doable, but a lot of hoops to jump through. They ship USPS (UGH) and it has to pass through customs.

This is where the price hikes come into the equation, not to mention exchange rates. 3-4 years ago we were looking good on the exchange rate front with near parity but now the the aussie dollar in freefall, not to mention export/import fees, we're pretty well screwed no matter which way we look at it.

a few guys on AS roll there own Bullets,
Class Cat comes to mind " says it's a PITA but that's what he does.

FWIW I know some of our guys who have shot in New Zealand for a major team have to have all their loaded ammo shipped by way of a major bullet manufacturer on pallet. Major PiTa and forced them to load ammo months and months ahead of the match just so it could arrive on time.

Also, the shear cost of shipping hasn’t been addressed much but as someone who used to ship some stuff there I know the cost alone can make it a really price prohibitive to start.

I really feel for you guys down there and hope some kind of channel opens up soon for you.

ITAR has kicked in making it a special deal License at $1,200 per year to ship over seas.
you can blame the UN and the Clinton,s for that one along with MR Obama. That signed on to it during the OBama administration

$1,200/yr seems like a bargain, considering:

Criminal penalties include fines of up to $1 million and up to 10 years imprisonment. Exporters found in violation of ITAR are generally only subjected to criminal penalties for willful noncompliance.

Civil penalties are more common, but in monetary terms, no less severe.

As of August 1, 2016, civil ITAR violations may result in monetary penalties up to $1.09 million in value (per violation). This inflation-adjusted penalty ceiling will be adjusted on an annual basis every January.

Civil penalties apply to each individual violation. A single locus of noncompliance can in fact be broken down into multiple violations, resulting in penalties in the range of tens of millions of dollars.

On the topic of 7mm bullets - Lapua Scenar L 180gr pills have been out of stock here for some time with no expected arrival date yet either.

berger bullets?? I didn't know you could buy them in Australia from a shop!!!!! the only way I have ever got them is buying from other generous shooters who have some and willing to sell.

I was buying lapua scenars not sure if anyone else has noticed but Ive notice a steep price hike on the scenars at all the shops in Australia recently, before I was able to get them for less than 60cents per bullet they now are priced around the imaginary berger. Sierra are the biggest joke going down here $1 per projectile for a 142 6.5 smk!!!! They may as well not bring them in at all.

I'm looking to copperhead now have just sent ken an email today. Any of you tried the 6.5 140 vld of kens??
