Dear Forum Boss:

Its been over two months since you posted, "I've been waiting for Jason to complete his testing the the 6.5x47/6-6.5x47 rifle." So...where is the "6.5x47L Info Page". I though I saw it up for a couple of days but maybe that was my wishful thinking, not there now. Please update status.

Thanks and God Bless!

There is an introductory page released a couple weeks ago: http://accurateshooter.com/cartridge-guides/65x47/

But it's NOT a full-fledged Cartridge Guide. I have Jason's data, but there is still a LOT of work to be done. I'm hoping to have the full cartridge guide released before the end of the year. But people are also hollering at me to do more Gun of the Week stories.

OK, I just donated to the cause. Hint, hint to other readers- Donate banner at the bottom of the page!!!

Please ask for help or hire some staff. You have a great site and forums and none of us is better off if you get overworked and burn out.

Thanks and God Bless!

I have been doing some testing with VV N550 and 139 gr. Lapua Scenars in my 6.5x47 Lapua with excellent results. I will also be testing 123 gr. Lapua Scenars.

Let me know if any of you are interested in this info and I will post it on this thread as soon as I get some Chronograph numbers.

Moderator: If there is any way I can be of any help, don't hesitate to ask. I have quite a bit of loading info for Reloader 17 and now with VV N550... Keep up the good work!

Ed, thanks for the contribution and Erik, thanks for the offer of assistance. Yes I would be interested in your data for RL17 and N550. If you have a spreadsheet or other organized load info, please send it to mailbox@6mmbr.com.

Jamming or jumping?

If jumping, QuickLOAD predicts 65,271 psi. and 2807 fps. out of a 28" barrel.

If jamming, QuickLOAD predicts 75,343 psi. and 2848 fps. out of a 28" barrel.

For your safety I hope you are jumping your bullets, if jamming, I would be very careful and watch out for pressure signs.

The only powder that I have been able to push the 139's above 2900 fps. is Reloader 17 and H4350, I'm sure there are others. But I don't think N150 is one of them.

Terry, bottom line is you are on the edge, if it works for you with no signs of pressure, then more power to you, it's just that all signs point to very high pressures. My advise would be, that if anyone else is willing to try your load, to start about 5 grains low and work up.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I'm just concerned since QuickLOAD shows very high pressures, that's all!

I have had good luck with the VV powder on my first try! We will see soon if it's the powder for my 6.5x47

Thanks for the info.

I think the barrel has a lot to do with it.
Primers still rounded on the corners.
No case head expantion.
I started lower and worked my way up.
I would be happy with 2850.
When it warms up, I'll back it off and try again.
I have had outstanding results with VV150 in several guns.

Thanks again!

Terry, I think you would be happier with N550. You should be able to hit 2850 fps. with no problem and accuracy so far has proved to be stellar with N550!

With N550, start at 37.5 gr. and work up increasing powder charge 0.5 gr. for every group until you see pressure signs, then fine tune around the best group. I started getting cratered primers at 41.0 grains with my 30" 4 groove Krieger, I was able to hit 3008 fps. with 41.5 gr. N550 but it was too hot.

Good luck, let us know how it shoots!
