Converting 6.5 Grendel to 6.5x47L

Is there enough material so I can ream a 6.5 Grendel to 6.5x47L? Anybody done it and did you have any problems?

Where is the best place to rent a reamer?

Thanks,

Bill

Yes, you should have no problems reaming a grendel to a 6.5x47L. Keep in mind that the bolt faces for those two cartridges are different sizes. The 6.5x47L being slightly larger, you may be able to have your bolt face opened up. As far as where to get a reamer, if buy one from one of the big names like PTG, JGS, or Manson. You can always resell it after you are done and recoup some of the cost.

It is for a bolt gun and I realize the difference in bolt face and don't want the 220 Russian.

Thanks,

Bill

Bill, how's this project working out for you? I just picked up my converted 6.5 Grendel barrel from my smith this past weekend. Fortunate for me, he had a no-turn neck 6.5x47L reamer. Can't wait till spring to get it out to do some testing. I would like to try bullets between 107-130gr in my Savage bolt gun.

Bill,

Are you talking about the AR platform or bolt rifle?

In the case of the AR, the answer is no.

Got a friend asking me who would build a 6.5x47 on an AR platform?? Any help appreciated...said I would ask...Thanks
Don't mean to hi jack but this comment was on that.

If doing the 6.5X47 on the AR10 platform, be sure and use an Armalite brand bolt and carrier. The firing pin is smaller diameter than the DPMS rifles and you won't have primer issues with the SRP.
