6.5x47 Short barrel

Hi All
Does anyone have any velocities from a short barrel 6.5x47 Lapua?
Most of what i have seen is from 26-30 inch barrels, but i am building a short barrel suppressed rifle - either 20 or maybe 22 inch.

Heh I am in the same boat. Building one with a Rock Creek barrel finished to 22". From the velocities posted here with 28" barrels I'm expecting/guessing high 2700's or low 2800's with 139gr Scenars, and low 2900's with 130gr VLDs.

From what I am seeing in QL, I think you are a little high.

139Gr. Scenars:
H4350 2706 Max
R15 2720 Max

130 VLDs:
H4350 2803 Max
R15 2790 Max

That's just me changing my 28" down to 22" and adjusting the powders to Max, leaving everything else the same.

I have a 20" x47 running 123 scenars @ 2900fps suppressed, RL17

257, I have a 24" Kreiger barelled hunting rifle chambered in 6.5X47 Lapua. I'm shooting 130 Berger VLD hunting bullets and my respective muzzle velocities are as follows:

41.2 Gr's. H-4350............2801 fps. avg.
40.5Gr's. RL-17...............2840 fps. avg.
38.2Gr's. RL-15...............2916 fps. avg.

This should give you a little better idea than 28" or 30" data.

Velocities were recorded with an Oehler 33.

257 Your welcome, I should have mentioned, this was with naked bullets, you may have to adjust slightly if you decide to shoot the Moly coated ones.
