Hi All,
trying to decide on busing size for Forster neck sizing bump die. Can anyone confirm my reasoning. I don't yet have my rifle, but want to get the dies etc beforehand. Here is what I know...
Reamer for the chamber neck is 0.291
Unfired, unloaded brass outside neck diameter is 0.288
Rifle made with same reamer and by same gunsmith, is being reloaded with Redding bushing die, using 0.286 bushing.
So if I have may facts right, brass sized with the .286 bushing, should spring back approx 0.002 to outside diameter of 0.288? I realize that the spring back can change, as the brass gets worked, with reloading. Does this seem right? I noted that the bushing that Forster sell with there bushing bump die kits are all larger (0.287,0.289, 0.291) than this? Any help is appreciated.
cheers
Additional: I decided to seat a projectile and measure the outside neck diameter. I used a 7mm08 seater die. Anyway, the outside diameter measures 0.290" (using a micrometer). So more ??? Is 0.004 too much neck tension? If I used a 0.288 bushing, the loaded outside neck diameter should still be 0.290, but with only 0.002"neck tention, right? Is 0.0005 (clearance around the neck) enough to let the projectile release, when fired? I definitely don't want to turn necks.
cheers
