6.5x47 140 hybrid loads

i shoot 40 gr h4350 with cci450 out of 28in bbl and am getting 2830fps. seat .003 to .005 off. this gun shoots 130 -140 -140 hybrid bergers all day with same 40 grs. the 130 shoot at 2935fps but the new 140 hybrids is doing great out to 1000 yds. it is now my go to load. it holds the record on my rifle range. 4 straight hits on bowling pin at 904 yds.

Have you shot any Varget? I just got my new bbl installed. 6.5x47 lapua with a Bartlien 8 twist M40.

Looking for some load info for my 6.5 x47. Hope to use h4350 with cci 450s topped with Berger 140 hybrids. Would love to hear about anyone using varget as well! Thanks for the help.

I used to shoot 140 hybrids and did well with them in my 1000/600 yd bench gun. Then one day I tried the 130 hybrid, put 3 shots on a 6'' plate at 1200 yd and have never turned back. It shot a .691 five shot group 600 yd for the range record last match with a heavily used barrel. Its my belief that the 6.5x47L is better suited for the lighter range bullets.

R700 action, 28'' HV 5R Bartlein 1:8 twist, no turn chamber, Lapua Brass (.001 shoulder bump full sized with .288 bushing), CCI BR4 primers

36.4 Varget (2760 fps, sd 8.3)
39.6 H4350 (2760 fps, sd 4.7)

130 hybrid (.003-.015 in lands)
41.0 H4350 (2900 fps, sd 3.0)

Wow, the velocity (2800fps +) you all are posting with the 140gr class is very surprising to me. Those velocities are similar to the 260/6.5SLR/6.5 Creedmoor velocities.

How many reloads does the brass last at these velocities?

On one of my 6.5 x 47's, it shoots at 2760-2770 with H4350 and 140 hyb/147 eldm. I'm on 12th reload (Lapua brass), over 1600 rds down barrel. Other 47 close to same, but on 9-10th reloads. I know others who are out to 15th firing.

i shot a long range varmint silhouette yesterday with the 38.9g varget 130g berger hybrid load...i shot a 30 outta 40 possible...velocity started at 2930 and ended at 2960...124 rounds so im pretty sure the barrel is done speeding up...there is no doubt when the 130 hits the coyote at 850yds.

im pretty happy considering i had no data..new barrel(only 50 rounds through it)and contour..new bullet...this will be my combo in the 47 from now on.
