Looking for some load info for my 6.5 x47. Hope to use h4350 with cci 450s topped with Berger 140 hybrids. Would love to hear about anyone using varget as well! Thanks for the help.

Re: 6.5x47 140 berger hybrid loads

No one else is running this bullet and powder combo for there 6.5x47? I thought this was really common... Just wanted a place to focus my work.

i shoot 40 gr h4350 with cci450 out of 28in bbl and am getting 2830fps. seat .003 to .005 off. this gun shoots 130 -140 -140 hybrid bergers all day with same 40 grs. the 130 shoot at 2935fps but the new 140 hybrids is doing great out to 1000 yds. it is now my go to load. it holds the record on my rifle range. 4 straight hits on bowling pin at 904 yds.

I use 142gr Sierra Matchking HPBT for my Ram load in silhouette. Shooting it with 39gr of H4350 and Rem 7.5 primers. Barrel is only around 25" and loading to just touching the lands. Shoots around 2650 fps and does a good job on the Rams. But I am looking to knock over 55+ pounds of steel without blowing the bullet up and ringing one so I run them a bit slower than you bench jockeys. It does the trick. I am not benchrest shooter but just doing simple testing off a no frills front rest and a rear bag it will easily shoot sub 1/2 MOA groups at 550 yards, this with a 10 lbs rifle made to shoot offhand. That is plenty accurate for me when I am offhand ;) Plus I hope my barrel will last a bit longer.

I am wanting to try Varget loads for the Ram load myself. I use it for the other 3 animals using Sierra MK 123gr HPBT for their great BC. Would be nice to only need one powder and Varget meters much more accurately in the Dillion. 4350 has me hand weighing them. With these I am only driving them to 2750 fps or so with 35.8gr of Varget. Plenty enough thump to knock all those down. In fact I am thinking too much and can reduce that by a few grains of powder still yet and maintain the same accuracy. Again hoping to get a bit more barrel life. I've heard mixed things about using Varget for the heavier bullets. Some say it is fine others say you might have pressure issues. I want to reuse my brass a lot so I tend to go on the safer side.

Really though I have shot at least 5 different bullets from a few makers in this rifle and they all shoot great. This is a great cartridge IMO.

good luck!!

Completed my load development for the 140 Hybrid and H4350 this am. Accuracy node is between 40.6 and 40.8 gr using CCI 450's. Bullet likes to be seated touching the lands or 10 thou off. Accuracy is running .269 to .44 MOA @ 607 yds. Vel is running 2780 to 2795 from 26", 1:8.5 Krieger MTU contour.

Went out this am to get a solid 100 yd zero and run the bullets over my Oehler 35P.

Several 5-shot groups in the .2's and a .4. Ave vel is 2743, 14 ES and 4 SD for 15 shots.
