6.5 Creedmore deer bullet recommendation Please

If you need a bullet that will work good at short range and long range, I recommend the 140 gameking. And for long range only it's hard to beat the Berger 140 vld hunt.

Guys,

I do not own one, but friend has one and i was wondering what bullet you are finding to be a nice deer bullet in an 8 Twist? Open field hunting out to 600 is likely longest he will go, most less.

Thanks

I have to vote on the Nosler Accubond. My son got a 7x7 elk this year at 275 yd. with the 140gr. AB in the 260. I was watching and it put the bull right down. I've had a big bull go lots further with my big 30 magnums!

Regardless of caliber and cartridge. Bullet type and shot placement will dictate how fast a deer goes down.

Somebody says this on EVERY single thread asking for hunting bullet recommendations.....Every hunter is well aware of this. Very common knowledge and goes without saying. OP is asking about bullets, not shot placement.

Regardless of shot placement, there are bullets that perform better than others in my opinion. After years of hunting with Berger bullets since they first came on the market and witnessing first hand the results on over 20 big game animals I've taken with them from small antelope to large bull elk, they are my number one choice when it comes to a hunting bullet.

Thanks guys....now for my next question....

I cannot find any data from Savage regarding twist in the Axis 2 6.5 Creedmore. I see it on the "better models", but just a generic 12 twist listed on the 270...

Anyone own one and want to measure for me?

Thanks in advance

snert,
He can also try our 6.5 130gr AR/OTM/TARGET/HUNTING BULLET (#26195) OR our new 6.5 135gr CLASSIC HUNTER :http://www.bergerbullets.com/new-berger-classic-hunter-offerings-now-available/ . Load data for the new 6.5 135 can be found here:http://www.bergerbullets.com/reloading-data/

I have one on the shelf and I checked it a minute ago just to satisfy my curiosity since the question has already been answered. The Axis indeed sports a 1:8 twist.

Thanks to all....I had mixed results from checking various sites to find the twist, so knowing from someone who owns one helps. The advice on bullets was very helpful as I was choosing a die and a micrometer stem for him also, to give him a lot of lee-way as he goes forth. I think we got it all settled, and thanks to all who answered.
