no, the issue is real. thanks for the contuing info.. is it really that likely that i messed up my gun to the point that i have to take it in before even firing it??

ive reloaded handgun a ton with no issues, as well as 300blk. im not claiming to be anything more than a novice reloader, hence all the questions.

im paranoid when i reload and i triple checked everything as i was doing it, thats why im so confused. it was brand new powder and brand new bullets 2.64" and everything seated just fine. i washed case lube off prior to loading.

honestly from what ive gathered, it seems like me basically loading the bolt w oil and not wiping it might have been the most likely issue? And yes i will pullet i just dont have a bullet puller , yet.

the way this is sounding is that i legit messed my rifle up bad and just dont know it yet.. im not a gunsmith so i either have to find someone or do a bunch of research and buy some tools

is it reasonable to wipe bolt and chamber, shoot a factory round see what happens, get a bullet puller to quadrouple check, then go from there.

again, not trying to test anyones anyone's patience, ty

Sticky bolt is one thing. This is something completely different. You could be one shot away from shearing your lugs completely off, and having your bolt as a new permanent facial accessory.
lmao.

because of how deformed the case was, being an indication that this was no slight over pressurization?(seriously asking)

i guess it doesnt matter, but.. theres no obvious signs of damage and the bolt operates smoothly. ..fwiw

one hot load, and some people worry about the integrity of the gun?? If you were able to open the bolt and extract... even if you had to force it open, means very little, if any damage to the rifle. Just Don't Do It Again !! LOL Be careful with loading procedures.

Two things come too mind with me if you are sure you had the correct bullet/diameter loaded.
First either had a major overload/charge of powder or possibly a too light of a load, some powder hung up in measure and did not get into case, and with a overly light charge, you created a bomb and when you fired that round, it blew, like a bomb would and caused the same or worse issue than a overload can.
I would pull, if you have not done so, several of these loaded rounds and re-measure your charge and see what they look like.
Maybe even, for safety sake pull all of those charges and start over.

I am in the mixed powder camp. How are you measuring your powder? If you are using some sort of powder measure, you probably had some of the powder you used to load .300 BO in it and it mixed with the 4451 to cause that overpressure.
I would have the gun checked out before shooting it again. That was a serious overpressure event.

Did you pull a bullet and check your powder charge..

Check your scale with a check weight.

No etching of the bolt face. Lugs look fine.

You might want to disassemble that bolt to make sure there aren't primer parts in there.

Probably Oil in the chamber.. some benchrest guys use that technique to fireform brass. Of course with a reduced load.

Have you pulled bullets and checked the powder charge yet? I don’t think you have an issue with the gun but you dang sure don’t want to do that again. I’m still perplexed as to why you haven’t given some specifics yet on the basics. Do you really want help or are you just going to spitball the entire ordeal? If your going to spitball it please video the next firing for educational purposes of course ;)
