6.5 BR AI ???

Any updates?
Took this gun to a range in Kansas in September and had very good results. Worked my way from 400 to 1000 with no problems. Took a shot at 1200 and hit the 10" X 12" steel dead center. loads were running 2910 fps on CFE 223, 123g SMK. All in all I am quite satisfied with my setup. Am now doing load workup with 107 g SMK for short range work. Looks promising with 1/2 moa initial results. These rounds are pushing 3000+ but will settle for less and tight bug holes. Next round at the range will be continuance of OCW testing and then seating depth for tuning. More to come.

Have you tried 130 Berger's in the 6.5BRA?

No, I haven't. Seven grains weight is a lot in this little cartridge. Also I believe the 130 Berger has a longer shank portion on the bullet and since my chamber was cut for the 123 Sierra I would probably have to seat the Berger deeper. Both factors IMO would contribute to large decrease in velocity. At 2900, the 123's are still supersonic at 1200 yds, not much beyond. Kind of like it that way. Gonna start fooling around with smaller bore stuff soon -- 224 Valkyrie AI. Should be interesting.

Additional: Did some fast checking with QuickLoad and the Berger saw a loss of 50 fps all else being equal. There might be some room for testing of these bullets afterall. Will let you know.

Any updates. Kinda curious about all of this. I wonder if a howa mini 1500 (6.5 Grendel) bolt could be opened up to .473 and a criterion prefit put on to create a 6.5BRA or 6.5 Dasher? Im very curious about the 135 grain Berger classic hunter in the 6.5BRA

Just wondering if you have any more updates with your 6.5 BRA
Just starting to put together a 1:10 twist barrel for the 6.5 BRA with 110 to 120 grain bulllets
Thanks
Unfortunately it has been a not so good year , no updates as of yet but have not given up on it. Just need to get some time to go to the range.

108 lapua scenar, no speed data only fire forming brass. I gave up my idea of this cartridge last year to a smith with unlimited access to barrels he tried 123's and a higher grain with not a good out come at a 1000.
So i decided to drop the coin and have my own reamer and go gauge built specifically for the 108. Hopefully I'll be shooting it in a couple weeks at 600 in a match with some more updates
i’m looking into a version of this cartridge.
questions: what freebore did you end up with for the 108 scenars and who did the reamer...JGS?

This sounds like a very cool build. It’s funny if never crossed my mind but should pan out nicely. Barrel life id think would be Atleast 3000 rounds but could be off there.

personally I think the 25 bra would be wicked

I'd enjoy reading about that 6.5 Dasher!
i may start a new thread once i get mine up and runnig cause i dont want to hijack this one even though its fairly old.

i seated a 6.5, 108 scenar in Alphas new OCD dasher brass and sent it off to JGS early this spring. as mentioned, I’m chambering up a couple barrels and expect them back soon.
