$ 6.00 @ gal.

The people of Oregon got stuck again with John Kitzhaber as a tax and spend governor because 240,000 rural voters chose not to vote at all. (all mail in ballots) He won by 150,000 votes. Now he is pushing a sales tax to provide health care for everybody so employers don't have to, as if he has a clue as to what that might cost and once they get a sales tax and the money rolls in, we have no control how high it gets or where it goes. I don't believe the citizens will vote for this. Of course, there is no talk about lowering other taxes or so called "fees" that we already are paying. Nobody makes anything here anymore because the tax man and environmentalists have driven them out.

I think gun ranges here are doomed and I predict in the near future the state will take them over and run 3 or 4 in the entire state. Kitzhaber is the dope who banned the Eddie eagle program from schools several years ago.

Diesel Prices; can anyone tell me why Diesel is higher than Gas the last several years when that was not the case for as long as I can remember? Is it because the small diesel cars get 75 miles to the gallon?

Go out 0n a interstate and count the trucks compared to cars. They were losing big bucks by making diesel cheaper. It's all about money and control.

There is something else we can all do, as we already vote. How many people do each and everyone of us know who don't keep up with the goin' ons' these days? That seem to go thru life with 'blinders' on. Help 'lead' 'um in the right direction. Take time to calmly explain the details. Talk to them intelligently, help them understand, without yelling at them. This Country has come as far as it has because most of the people are educated. Help by 'educating' those that are 'missing' that part of their education. Just maybe, if enough get 'educated', things will change,,,, and for the better this time! Been a 6 page rant, so far! Get Involved!

Easy. There is a larger international market for diesel than gasoline (or petrol, as most of the rest of the world calls it.) Refineries are geared to produce one or the other, not necessarily both, although they might produce the other as a byproduct. And refined products (gasoline, diesel, plastic feedstocks) are shipped by tanker just like crude. So when you stop at the station to fill up with diesel, you are competing against consumers in China, Europe, India, etc. And with the dollar sliding in value . . .

Take the good with the bad. Six dollar gas will be the kiss of death to our elected officials.
Another house cleaning is in order. Hope the voting idiots don't forget what change has ment to the rest of us.

I really don't think it matters about drilling, or anything else, it boils down too greed and the oil cos. are making us pay for the next election. They fund both sides,so it's a no loose for them no matter who wins.
The best part is no COL. for SSI. for 3 years but they gave the gov. workers one every year. What a joke, they take from the fixed income people and give it to the companies for poor management and to hold a party ......jim

Yeah, no kidding. I just qualified for early SSI a couple of weeks back. Two years ago I thought I might try to prolong collecting benefits as long as possible.

(Last employer holding back close to $18,000 in wages for 2010 helped me make that decision... the saga on that's not done yet, rest assured.)

Losing my job at the end of April 2010 toasted THAT plan. No luck yet finding anything new, even at minimum wage. Guess that "graduated high school in 1967" doesn't look too good on my applications. Just try and submit one without that info, see how fast it gets tossed!

We're paying the price now for 100 years of industry reliance on oil availability. Try to name something you don't NEED daily that uses oil somewhere either to make it or get it to you. Now the rest of the world is trying to catch up, by whatever means possible.

I remember that movie from 2007 with Will Smith "I am Legend" with the one scene that showed gas at ~6.49/ gallon and I was thinking :o! But may be not too far off. But as Nat just posted it will be a death knell for any politico's in orifice that are complicit in this monkey business. But what occurs when they are all voted out and the next crop of losers gets in who take an oath but don't follow it? The left/right paradigm continues. They are one and the same. We need Constitutional candidates only who will truly follow the peoples interests not some special interests. And for crying out loud, no more attorneys/lawyers running for orifice. How bout some loggers, farmers, or people that got dirt under their nails. The Republic has fallen hard, and it will take a literal miracle to get it back on track.

I did A google on how much oil was being exported form the US.
Heres what i found out. We are not shipping oil But... We are shipping Gas and diesel fuel 1 out of 10 bbls processed is shipped overseas''
Add to that the oil companies are holding up production at their refineries'' They blame old refineries and maintainace issue,
Now look at the picture, If they build or up grade refineries then they would have no Excuse to produce more gass and diesel'
They are sticking it to us BIG TIME The refinries are working at less then 50%

Voting is extremely important - so many countries lack that right - but how many US voters don't work, don't own property or don't have to pay for anything? If all the inmates in jails and prisons were allowed to vote we would never get a Conservative elected in any office.

Your spot on Frank.
There are many good posts on here, to many to keep up with. As far as why is diesel so much more than gas now? it used to be a by product that couldn't even be given away, heck they pumped it back into the ground to get rid of it! Well some have already said the obvious, supply and demand and since the whole industrial world either runs off coal or diesel you may say it's hard for you to control,?....
Maybe, maybe not. I am 47 years old and I can remember when the only new vehicles in the school parking lot was the principles and maybe one or two rich kids all the rest were CARS not TRUCKS and they were used ones, well used! Now you drive into the school parking lot and it is clear full not one empty spot FULL of expensive diesel TRUCKS and cars ,that you the parents buy them ???, only the poor broke pig rancher's kid drives a 1973 chevy 1/2 ton (God forbid ) two wheel drive ::) pickup. My son drives a 1982 Mazda diesel pickup that has 246,000 on it, I gave $700 for and if it ain't good enough for him he can walk as far as I am concerned. I know we live in the good o'l U.S.A and shouldn't be told what we can and can't have but come on PEOPLE!!! drive up and down your neighborhoods, look when your on the highways, LOOK in the rearview mirror @ yourself, there all driving diesel pickups or big suv's with one person in them ???, Are the ones in the diesel pickups all loggers, farmers, construction workers??? NO!!
most of them are all polished up, jacked up and with oversized tires (made from petroleum) driving around aimlessly, if it weren't for the advent of automatic hubs they wouldn't even know how to get it into 4x4 and why when a small car or pickup would get you from point a to point b just as good, well I guess you wouldn't look as COOL and you wouldn't be keeping up with the smiths and Jone's. I know I can't tell you what to do and I am not trying to but people should use some common sense, I work with a bunch of kids that have more tied up in there OLD 2006 Dodge or Ford diesel pickups then I did in my first house by far, and if a new chip or part comes out that will make it go 1/2 mph faster they won't think twice about dumping another $5000 into it to do just that, and you all wonder why pickups and diesel is so expensive???....Supply and demand my friends.

Do any of you remember when GM peddled those awful gasoline V8s converted to diesel in 1979?
Yes, I made good money buying them cheap at the car auctions and converting them back to gas, mostly Oldsmobiles and GM pickups.

They are pushing for that too. Won't be long.

"Supply and Demand"; yes gas prices would decrease if we consume less, but it would also decrease if they increase supply.

The only way to make the oil companys step in line is to start a week long boycott of Exxon, there cash flow stops and they drop the price, buy shell and bp that week.

The following week boycott shell and buy from Exxon and BP, ect. ect.

Like any buisness with huge cash flow when it stop they panic.
Even if 50% of fuel buyers were doing this you would see real change to believe in.

Awww, Erik. It is a shame you grew up without the influence of famed desert racer, Harvey Mushman alias Steve McQueen. Rent a copy of the original "On Any Sunday", a classic flick about off-road dirtbike competition financed by Steve McQueen who also stars in it. Still tickles me everytime I watch it.

That's right! I know from first hand experience, that riding a motorcycle is awesome! It's fun, and even exciting to be out on the road, just cruisin'. However, I have never, and will never own one. I know a couple of people who work in power sports shops. Almost every week, they have parents come into their shop and ream them out for selling their kid a motorcycle. These people go buy bikes, and end up killing themselves, or get hit by another motorist and are killed. People on bikes get killed all the time, and in most cases it's not their fault. Of course there are exceptions, like the guys who are always doing 100+ mph every time they ride.

I know of one case, where my friend sold a bike to guy, the happy customer pulled out of the lot, went to the first red light, and was killed by someone who ran the light. He owned his first bike for about 1 minute, and that was it. Because of what these guys see every day when working at the dealership, I have no desire to buy one, even though I love riding them!

bikes are great on gas, but even hitting a squirrel while in mid turn can end your life. That's a risk I'm not willing to take just to get 60, 80, or even 100+ miles per gallon.
