$ 6.00 @ gal.

The price of gas is certainly a bunch of BS. Wait until Exxon, BP, Chevron, and others start posting their record earnings once again.

All compliments from us...

Here in the peoples republic of new york we pay over a dollar of tax on every gallon. The media is whats driving the price up by saying its such a good deal. They are the devil.

$3.69 for 87 and $3.93 for 93 here in Houston.

I traded by SUV last weekend as I was tired of $80 fill-ups also. What is weird, the dealership paid me a rediculious amount for it. Figured I would take a beating with folks wanting to get out of the gas hogs, same as me, but I guess not.

Yeah Mark, but now you have less room for shooting gear, you are going to have to leave your "bucket of X's" at home from now on! :P

$4.05 for diesel in San Antonio, TX... My truck has a 40 gallon tank, I'll let you guys do the math! >:(

Here's a list of gas prices in Crawfordsville, IN. The cheapest is $3.79. I'm going to NE. on a shoot in June. Thank God there will be three of us sharing the gas. Maybe this will drive Motels down in cost??

They project it will reach 6,00 this summer, and when it hits 5.50 and not 6 you will feel good. Then it will drop back to 5.00 they think we will accept that and go about are merry way.
The best part he's under the radar and nobody will be thinking of birth cert. and no paper trail in school and they dance all the way to the bank.......jim

Same here Erik. $140.00 to fill my Suburban diesel a couple of days ago. Of course I only need to fill it twice a year (don't I wish!)

Here in western Colorado we are fortunate to have at least 4 ranges less than a 1/2 tank of gas from my home. My truck gets about 25 mpg on the highway but is only a 4 cylinder. Gas here is just bumping up on $3.60 per gal. I wonder what the effect on big matches like Perry or other national matches will be if it keeps going up?

I guess if your getting 25 mpg and goes to 5.00 thats .20 cents a mile just for gas.Whitehorse range is 52.00 just for gas for me.The price of fun is going up......jim

Of course, every cloud has a silver lining as they say. I just justified buying a 40X rimfire barreled action that will drop into my Rem 700 SA F-Open stock. It will let me practice 5 minutes from home instead 90 miles to where I usually practice center fire. I expect it pay for itself on less fuel getting to the range over the next year, not to mention componenets and reloading time.

Two comments:

1. Do you Carpool?
At the matches I've attended, local or regional, I'd say less that 5% of the guys carpooled. And most of the shooters had big gas hungry trucks. Drive with just one other guy and you've saved 50% on the fuel bill.

2. Dollar Decline
The U.S. dollar has quietly been beaten down. It's now worth less than a Canadian dollar... and the trend will continue. This makes foreign oil (which we use in great abundance), increasingly expensive. Here's a chart showing the U.S. Dollar vs. Swiss France, over the last five (5) years. In just FIVE YEARS, the dollar has lost about one-third of its value!

Tony, Going to put a range in back of my house for load development. The gas hike justifies the range work......jim

Yes and we are on credit watch. Most people have no idea of the ramifications if they drop the US credit rating. If the US dollar gets dropped as the global currency standard, everything will change and it all goes to pot. Gas prices wont matter anymore because you won't be able to afford food.

The writing is on on the wall. If you want to really see where we are at read "Earth in 2050" written by a UCLA science professor (2009). Oil has another 50yrs tops and we are at or over peak production which can't keep up. Known Gold deposits will be gone in just 16 yrs. Note: mining equipment runs on oil so gold prices are tied to oil prices. IMO the only things worth owning or buying long term are food (clean water aquifers included), bullets and gold, the rest will be worthless.

I don't believe for a second that we are running out of oil. It's there if the tree huggers will let us get it. Read this and tell me what you think.

Tony, if gas prices go down, will you sell 40X rimfire barreled action? ;D

OIL IS EVERYWHERE IN NORTH DAKOTA!

You don't think we are Drilling??

Right now there are over 100 drill rigs punching holes in Northwestern North Dakota.
They have been horizantal drilling the BAKKEN for 6-7 years now.
Enough oil to fuel the US for as some estimates state another 200 years!

The drilling has really picked up the last 2 years, I hunt there every Dec. and have to put up with the increase in traffic and wait times anywhere you need a service.

ND unemployment is less than 1% Need a job? Stop in the Mall in Ray ND there is many companys who keep offices there and hire you on the spot. Last year My hunting partner who is over 65 was asked if he wanted a job by one of the ladies in the office, Arnie said "are you sure you want to hire somebody on medicare"

Her answer was, " as long as your warm we'll take ya."

we have oil deposits in alaska and the continental us enough to last 200 years ...
we have drank the cool-aid.... there are wells here in this state that are restricted from pumping... there are so many thousands of gas wells in this state that are capped off.....it is all run on greed....... not supply and demand....the north slope and bakken could last that long or longer and we have the good old reserve......
and as martim said the tree huggers have been a perpetual pita....
that is the other thing about them they figured out they couldn't shut down hunting by gun control then the next best thing is to take away the game and buy up land to restrict access....
if you don't think for a min. that they didn't introduce the wolf thing for that purpose you are mistaken. they have a big war chest also

There drillin' the day lights out of it, here in Western Oklahoma, between OKC and Amarillo, TX. New technology, horizontal wells, more pipe in the 'pay zones', more perforations in the pipe, more hydrocarbones can be collected. Price is about $3.70 f/reg. I'm glad my shop is a matter of yards behind the house, drove less than 10,000 miles last year, according to my oil chg. records. Lots of new wind mill 'farms' in the area, too bad most transportation doesn't run on electricity. One of the natural gas/oil cos. is setting up CNG fueling stations all along I-40, here, and have converted most of their fleet to CNG. $1.39/gal.! This could be the answer, but, it makes too much sense for those in Washington. After all, they control 2 of the 'big 3' auto makers so they wouldn't be allowed to build cars & pick-ups already for CNG. I know! Let's shut down drilling in the golf, refuse to allow drilling in ANWAR, go after those that frac (fracture formations to allow more hydrocarbons to be recovered) because they caused an earth quake in Japan, and refuse to allow any production off of the left coast! Then we can pursue our aganda of 'green energy', what ever that is! Who cares if the "folks" hurt a bit, it's for their own good, we know better than they do! It's what we get when there's a bunch in-charge that don't know how to 'make a buck', just spend it!
