55 Nosler BT in 6BR

Does anyone have some load data for 55 Grain bullets in the 6BR? I have N133, IMR4895, RE15, and several other powders on hand. I'd like to see if that bullet will shoot in my 19.9 inch barrel.

Thanks,
Bruce

BPost:

Had sub-1/4" groups in my 1:14 6 BR 21.75" barrel with 31.5 H322 and 33.5 Benchmark and 55-gr. Sierra BlitzKings. Would suspect the Noslers to be similar. Probably should start a little under these loads as all chambers/barrels different, though these are not particularly hot loads.

Good luck.

I have been using Nosler Factory seconds in 55, 70, and 80gr. with super results. I use only Accurate Arms 2230C powder.
A little slower than IMR 4895. The throat on my barrel is a little too long to jam the 55s but the 70s and 80s will.
The 55s with about .010 to.020 jump, were doing bug holes,to my surprise :D)with 32.0 gr. of powder @ 3275 FPS average. Not a hint of high pressure.,and the ammo hasn't been tuned yet)HTH. Mike.

I have a Rem 700 PacNor 1-12 twist that shoots 55 Sierras and 58 Hornadys very well. 34 grains of Varget, 35 grains of 4895, and 32.5 grains of 322 work well. My gun did not shoot the Noslers as well as the Sierras and Hornadys. Just how much the bullets are jamed seems to be more of a factor with the 6 BR than the other varmint rifles I have worked with. This is why the Wilson seater with the calibrated adjustment is so handy.

Thanks guys,
I'll load some up and post the results. A correction on my barrel; it is a 19.5" Bullberry on an TC Encore. I am looking for a crow load for this rifle.

Hi i have a rem 700 VLS that was rechambered to 6mmBR and a .271 neck i use 55gr BlitzKings and 58gr V Max bullets with the barrel cut to 22" all do 3400fps the loads are Lapua case Rem 7 1/2 Primer,or other primer i want to use up) 34gr Varget, 33gr H4895 or 32gr Benchmark all get similat velocity and shoot well under 1/2" groups at 100 yards the Sierra's have the edge and i use any of the 3 powders that i have available at the time but because you have a short barrel H322 is supposed to work very well with 32gr as max but start at 30 and work up i would try the H322 first if you have it if not Benchmark they just blow up crows good choice.

how do you like the short barrel that you have I am haveing them build me a berral also and I was thinking of going with a 24"

Well I bought mine used on the internet. It was 19.5 inches from the guy that sold it to me. I do think it loses some velocity but the accuracy is awesome by my standards.

Fred at Bullberry gave me a honest to gosh headache just chatting with him. I needed to ask questions to learn. It was impossible to get a word in edge-wise.

He argued every thing I had learned from this and other sites about barrels, twist and length. I did not place a order for another barrel from him. Fred claims that the Wilson blanks he uses are the best. From studying other input on barrel blanks the exclusive use of those blanks has me worried.

The barrel I have is worth the four month wait if the accuracy results are repeated. To make life easy place the order by FAX and for the sake of Pete don't ask questions.

ALL THE ABOVE IS IN MY OPINION BACKED BY ONLY MY EXPERIENCE WITH ONE SINGE 24 MINUTE PHONE CALL. I WANT ANOTHER BULLBERRY BARREL. I CAN DO WITHOUT THE HEADACHE.

Hi if you are happy with the accuracy you have with your BR go with another there are alot of good manufacturers out there but if a gunsmith prefers a particular type you are best sticking with their brand. Just make sure there are accuracy garentees and if it will not shoot they will investigate the issue with you and remidy it under warrente. What calibre are you looking for and what twist/ barrel length?

We could help if you need assistance in deciding then as you said just order it by fax and if he does not want your order i think there are others that will make you what you want. There is a rifle in guns of the week with a EDM'd chamber on a oncore single shot they will make you anything you could possibly want and accurise the oncore if you want it aswell.

Good luck

I am shooting 55grn nosler combined tech Molly at 3980 with ragged hole groups at 100 in my standard 6br. jumping 15 thou with 36.5 of n135 lapua brass and federal 205 match primers. I love it for fox very explosive. I shoot a 1 in 8 twist rpa not ideal twist i know, but it shoots with very little pressure, my barrel is 24 not sure if these comments any use to you being as you have 20. very wide sweet spot shooting good groups from 32grn through to the 36.5, I've settled for 36grn 3950 just cos its not so tricky to get the almost full case in the press without a spill.
PS, you will need to use a drop tube to fit that much powder in a standard case.
