Powders in the 6br for light to mid range bullets

Hey guys, I am trying to work up a load for a re barreled 12 twist Remington in 6br. Problem is, I can't really find the powders I'd like to try. So I am looking for a proven powder to really search for. I have 55 and 70 grain Nosler Ballistic tips, as this is a varmint rifle. I have tried IMR 4198 and 8208 xbr. I have some 10x as well. So far it doesn't seem to like either.
What say you?

My 14 twist Krieger does super with 30.5gr of AA2015BR and the 65Vmax or 30gr with the 70TNT. POI is within 1/2" of each other. Only bullets I have shot it it for pdogs and couldn't find any reason to look for anything else with the above combo being my first and only loads. Velocity runs 3410ish with the 26" barrel.

"Most" 6br rifles like V135 or H4895 in the light bullets and Varget for the 80 ish weight
But you rifle will let you know what it wants....good luck

In our 6br's 700 rem-12 twist 5r kreigers we shoot 55 nosler varmg and 58 horn zombies with 33.5 gr H322 and cci 450/br-4s/rem 7 1/2 at 3700 fps.

My 6BR has a little faster twist but it loves Varget. I'm not fond of it because it doesn't measure well from a powder measure but I feed the rifle what it likes and take the time to weight each charge.
I've also had some pretty good results with H4350 and you might even like CFE223.

One approach to working up a load without going into the poor house and collecting a lot of powder you may never use is to get acquainted with other shooters who have already done that. Borrow 200 - 300 grains of different powders (plenty for the 6BR) and run some preliminary tests to settle on two or three that look pretty good.
Between my son and two friends I was able to find enough "samples" to decide on a focus set that made developing a load for my '03 Springfield a breeze.

I always see guys recommending 4895 and varget. Bu with the lighter bullets you give up too much velocity. I was thinking in the 322 or 335 range, but can't get them to try. Anyone try 10x? I saw pressure sighns with 4198 and xbr, way before I should have.??

in the 6br with lighter bullets I've found that re 7 works great with 55 gr bullets ,benchmark is probably the all round powder to use with lighter bullets up to 75 gr. everyone has to find the combo of powder, bullet, primer , brass, seating depth that works best in that particular rifle, but that's the fun of load development. you never know what will work till you find it. even after you find it you'll still wonder if there's a better load. lots of money and lots of time will finally get you there. lol be sure you keep a load log, pretty easy to redo loads you already tried if you don't write them down, been there lol

may be hard to find but n133 is great for lighter bullets. norma 201 will work...wideners had in stock.

My 8tw shot so-so with Hornady 87 and 105's and Varget/RE15. Tried some Watson 68g and AA2520 and amazing accuracy at 200yds (well, for me anyhow). As under 0.5moa mostly windage, very little vertical. Got up to 3500fps with 34gr, no pressure signs I could see. Fed and Rem primers. Also filled case with 34g Varget (could maybe get one more grain in if slow fill, etc) and also not bad grouping. Chrony quit, so don't know about velocity. Now the search is on for AA2520, as about out Ron.

I know that people get tired of me pumping it, but my 10 twist 6 BR shoots mid-weights, the Berger 87 gr VLD and 90 gr BT, super well with 30.5 to 31.6 gr of 8208 XBR lit with 205M primers. It feeds like water through a my ChargeMaster.

Hey guys. I'll be loading for my new 6br as it arrives later this week. 10 twist using 90 berger BT and 90 Lapua Scenar. I only have CCI 450 primers and will start with Varget. I also have CFE, 2520, and 748. Anyone had any luck with those and the CCI 450's with 90 grainers?

Using 65 Gr. Berger HPBT Match and the 65 GR. V-Max, I have shot my best groups using 8208 XBR,... I Get the highest velocity also with that powder. H-322 is also very good, but groups are slightly better and my SD is lower with 8208....I like it a lot.....George

I have a 6BR 14 twist 0.060" free bore. It's a hunting GH rifle no competition shooting. I shoot 58, 65, 68 & 70 grain bullets. RE-15, 8208, Varget and H322. All give good velocity. H322 probably the highest fps. Couldn't get high fps with V-133. Early signs of pressure with V-135. I don't think I tried other powders. I usually test loads with different powder charges at 0.010" jump. After reading a post on this website about seating depth variation may be more important than small powder charge changes I loaded up some Hornady VMax 58 & 65 gr bullets all with 33.5 gr of RE-15 (35.0 is the published max) and each at five different COAL. The group size and shape changes with seating depth were interesting. Groups ranged from .720 to .240". 1/3 of the groups were under 0.25". FPS both bullets about 3370. I'll try to get the fps up with the 58 VMax. Now I need to find a nearly extinct Ohio GH. Three shot groups.
