3rd Bushnell failed. What now?!?

Trijicon makes excellent optics and Tenmile is probably one of the toughest most reliable scopes out there. Might be a little out of your budget range tho.

I have not owned a Sightron but you can’t deny their reputation for good optical quality and reliability.

Surprisingly enough, Burris has been putting out some scopes with really nice glass in the mid price range. I recently purchased a Signature HD 5-25 and a XTR 8-40 F Class scope. Both have really great glass, especially the Signature HD, but are second focal plane. I can’t speak for durability and reliability yet because I have not shot with them. I also hear people speaking highly of the Burris Veracity line which is FFP and probably suited better to PRS. I bet the 5-25Ive

Would help to know some facts.
Cartridge
Rifle & weight. Auto or bolt action.
Lead sled or other rest that doesn't allow the rifle to recoil.
Extreme change in air temperatures. Left in hot car.
Mounts used.
6.5 Creedmoor
Terminus Zues action. Rifle weighs 19 lbs
I don't shoot off sleds.
I live in Central Florida. Every day is like being left in a hot car.
Skyline precision 1 peice mount.

For PRS half the scopes mentioned above would not work. You need FFP with a good Christmas tree reticle for holds. 5-25x range area is a good place to be. Find a scope with those attributes in your price range and you will be fine.

Also Razors do not have rampant turret or tracking issues. They are the most used scope in the PRS and have a great reputation. Also even if you get a lower priced Vortex and had an issue you get it back in 1-2 weeks max. Not months.

ETA the PRS gear survey page for scopes.

That chart is very representative of the crowd that I shoot with. Most guys have Razors. The other most have night forces. The rest of the crowd is sprinkled with Kahles, Tangent, Z Co, Leupold.

Agreed, that most of the recommended scopes above are not tailored to the type of PRS shooting that I do.

I thought that I was making a good choice with a FFP 4 1⁄2-27 Forge..... But I guessed wrong.

Whatever I choose next will come from that list surely.

You can go up to one of the better Bushnells if you wanted to stay with them. They make some good optics up more in the line. The Forge is just in the lower line. That said those basic specs should be a good list for a PRS optic no matter the maker. Been shooting the sport 18 years and have seen many changes.

I have requested to upgrade to a XRS on the grounds that I've had so many fail. Waiting for a response from the warranty manager. My only reason to stay with Bushnell is that I already have 1k$ into it. I'm sure even if they at least replace my Forge, that I won't be able to sell it for what I have in it. Even if its brand new in the box. Keeping my fingers crossed for an upgrade.

Side note: Where is everyone buying/selling used optics? I see some on this forum from time to time, but its mostly bench rest stuff.

Dang! Your rifle weighs 19 lbs !?! Anyway, the midas tac or the s-tac would work. Since mine are on. 22's I dial them a lot to get from 50 to 300 and they still track.

I found a used DMR ii on snipershide for $775. I'll send you the link.
Thanks for the heads up. Still waiting on a reply from Bushnell. I think I want a XRS though. They have locking diopters and that will make me feel all warm and fuzzy seeing as that's what keeps failing on my others.

Honestly have a look at the Trijicon Tenmile 4.5-30x56. It has a boat load of elevation and the glass is so nice it will easily beat the glass in Razors and NXS’s all while having a greater magnification range as well. Nothing Bushnell makes at any price point could even come close. The Triji is as tough as they come with insanely accurate tracking in tests I have conducted and shooting in the field. Comes with Tenebraex caps, tooless turret removal, zero stop that is very easy to set and reset, both red and green illumination and a bunch of other great features. The only downside is that you will have to increase your budget. It’s a $2k scope, but if you look hard enough and watch for big sales or used scopes, sometimes you can get one for $1500-$1600.

Here’s is a review I write up on the scope back when I got it in 2018. Still have it and it’s still one of the best scopes I have ever used or looked thru. Mine is SFP, but they make it in FFP as well.

See all these options. Do yourself a favor keep on Bushnell's ass till they make good. In the meantime look thru as many optics in the field at these shoots as possible. Make up your mind for yourself. Don't let others convince you that my glass is the best and yours is sub par. Opinions vary..... and most are bias.
There are a lot of good optics out there for $1000.00 new or used that will meet your needs. Remember this, shooters running the best, clearest glass get their ass's handed to them everyday.

I would never buy any optics from a Vista company. They already abandoned all their customers when they closed the Weaver line. Now they are doing it with Bushnell products. When will people learn? All I can tell you for future purchases is that recent personal experience is that Leupold, Vortex and Athlon stand by their products 100% with excellent customer service.

Nick if you get a letter from the Mfg stating optic fixed or better yet replaced, you would
not be selling anything without total disclosure...and ship the letter with the scope. ( Just come clean )
You make the buy'er aware of the issues up front.....how I would do it anyway.
I can agree if you make sure that you tell the buyer the whole story.

Well. Boring update. Sent my Forge back. Upgrading to a XRS3. They don't release until late October allegedly. Mounted my "Back Up" Match Pro on my PRS rig... Hope it can handle the beating that its about the receive.
