Question about Illum MilDot reticle, Bushnell 3x12-44 (423124F)

In my new Bushnell Elite 4200 3x12-44 mil/mil FFP scope, the thin inner illuminated mildot reticle line does not meet the heavier solid black outer reticle line. It APPEARS (not yet checked with known object at a known distance) that the space from the last/forth dot to the edge of the heavy reticle is not a mil/same as the dot to dot spacing. (It may be an illusion due to the gap/non-connecting reticle.) Bushnell manual states this is one mil.

Anyone have one of these? Is there a gap between the illuminated inner and solid outer parts of the reticle. Is this apparent/common in other illuminated reticle scopes?

Bushnell says this is fine. (It's already been back and forth...about two weeks!) It doesn't look right. I think i want a "No Questions Asked" replacement. I'll appreciate any observations or comments. Thanks.
