3D Printed Stock

Cool idea. Not without its technical challenges, but I could imagine it working. Materials are getting better constantly, as are clever printing techniques (like if you print at an angle, you can make long parts in a single piece if you've got the patience for it). I imagine that if you got the specifics right, you could make them considerably cheaper than a traditional stock, and with more options.

What would it cost materials wise. Carbon fiber isnt cheap.
They vary widely. You can get some for about $50 a kilo, or $500 depending on details. I can't imagine you'd want to use it for the whole print though. There are printers that can print two separate materials on the same part.

Saw this today on Rimfire Central, the OP made this 3D printed benchrest stock. I thought this was quite innovative and wondered if anyone here has been experimenting with similar applicatons?
